Anthony R Singletary

ANTHONY RAY SINGLETARY, son of the late Douglas and Louise Frances Singletary, was born September 9, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on October 6, 2023 after a lengthy illness. From his parents’ union, Anthony was the fourth child of six children. He loved his family and they affectionately called him Ray. Ray was reared and raised in Baltimore, Md. and educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from Venable High School in 1978. Ray was a hard worker and at the age of 18 he began working with Baltimore City as a landscaper for 32 years. He retired in 2021, when he became ill. After Ray’s retirement he concentrated on his health. On June 14, 2019, Ray married the love of His life, Beatrice Loretta Singletary. Loretta was very instrumental in giving Ray some of the best memories of his life. He loved his wife and enjoyed spending time with her; and Loretta loved him. She was very dedicated to Ray and throughout his illness, she was right by his side. Ray had two children, his daughter, Marie Elliot who preceded him in death and his son, Little Ray Singletary. He was blessed with two grandchildren, Mariah Moses and Jaden Fleet. Ray also had a bonus son, DeShaun Dorsey from his union with Loretta. Ray was a good person. He looked out for others, giving out various gifts and making sure he would call his family and friends to say “Happy Birthday.” Ray was known for his big smile, and he always dressed to impress. He loved socializing. He loved visiting family and friends, and going out to restaurants to dine with them. He was a fun guy to hang with and you could find him at the family gatherings enjoying himself. One of Ray’s other favorite pastimes was watching sports, particularly the Ravens and wrestling on Fridays. Ray was so fond of wrestling that he would actually go to the arena to watch the sport in person. Ray had his own personal relationship with God. He was baptized and on some occasions he attended church. Ray had the opportunity before he departed this life to make his peace with others and to read the Word of God with his sister, Marilyn. Ray was able to declare in his last hours that he felt good! Anthony Ray Singletary leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Beatrice (Loretta Singletary); his sons, Ray Singletary and DeShaun Dorsey; his sisters, Sheila Mouzone (Robert), and Marilyn Singletary; his sisters-in-law, Loretta Singletary, Beverly Spriggs and Gertrude Perry; his brothers-in-law, Harry, Kenny and Kevin Dorsey; his best friends, James, Joe and Kevin; and a whole host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Douglas and Louise Singletary; his daughter, Marie Elliot; his two sisters, Cynthia and Andre Singletary; and his brothers, Melvin, Dennis and Mark Singletary. Rest in Peace.
