Anthony K. Covington

ANTHONY K. COVINGTON, SR., the son of the late Shirley T. Covington Hackett and Alphonzo Cloverdale, was born on May 23, 1963 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on March 26, 2006 after a lengthy illness.Anthony, affectionately known as ‘Hubba’, received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. In 1986 he met Janynee Bailey and on July 16, 1994, Anthony and Janyee were married. Out of their perfect union came Anthony K. Covington, Jr. and little Janae Avis Covington. Anthony was baptized and received the Holy Spirit at Apostolic Truth Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor Thomas J. Cobb.Anthony enjoyed everything, especially food! His favorite TV shows were Law and Order, CSI, Married with Children as well as basketball and football games. He was a mediator and instigator. He loved cracking jokes on people and making them laugh. He had a smile that would brighter up any room. Anthony enjoyed shopping at Motions’ clothing store. He loved the high-fives he’d get when he would come around the way (Barclay Street) and show off his new clothes. His wife and kids fondly called him “BIG DADDY COOL”. Anthony was a truly dedicated son to his mother as well as a devoted brother, father, uncle, cousin, husband and friend. He will be sorely missed by all of us. He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Covington; his sister Antoinette Covington; his niece, Avis Covington; his aunt, Lucille and his uncle, Bobby Grady.Anthony’s memory will be forever cherished by his wife, Janyee and his children Keith and Janae; his grandfather, Joseph Grady; three brothers, Michael Covington, Rodney Covington, and Vernon Covington; one sister, Jacqueline Covington; three aunts, Diane Kenan, Rosalind Simpson and Beverly Grady; three uncles, Kenneth Grady, Harry Kenan, and Hubert Simpson of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Rosalie Powell; one brother-in-law, Clinton Powell; twelve nephews, Richard Covington, Jr., Derrick Covington, Antonio Blue, Michael Covington, Jr., Anthony Cooley, Vernon Covington, Jr., Rodney Covington, Jr., Dominic Covington, Corey Covington, Ronald, Shakeb and Percell; six nieces, Niketta Covington, Aleshia, Chavon, Sherriel, Naykia, Sakida; five great nieces and nephews, Darius Covington, Chyna Blue, Dierra Blue, Acooria Blue and Alaysia Cooley; one god-son, Tyler James Royster and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
