Anthony Grant

ANTHONY GRANT was born on August 10, 1949 to the late Lillie and Herman McTeer in Charleston, South Carolina. Anthony was the youngest of his four siblings: Herbert Stepney (deceased), Leitha Moore (deceased), Daisy Leach and Blondell Dunaway. He attended Sunday school as a child and also Baltimore City Public Schools. Anthony was a kind and easy going person and his warm and loving personality was felt by everyone that he encountered. Anthony was the type of guy that if he were sitting on the steps; and he saw a neighbor struggling with a package, he’d quickly rush to their aid. Anthony was also a bit of a “handyman.” He enjoyed helping his family and friends with household projects and repairs. Anthony had a special bond with his sister BlondeIl; with whom he lived with, and would even sometimes refer to as “Ma.” Blondell began taking care of Anthony after the passing of their mother in 1989 and they were extremely close. Anthony also had a good friend Mrs. Ella; whom he also viewed as a mother figure and would speak to weekly. Anthony did not have any biological children of his own; however he did help raise a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; whom lovingly refer to him as “Uncle Anthony.” For leisure Anthony enjoyed being with family, watching television, eating good food, listening to oldies but goodies music, and spending time with the family dog, Bentley. Anthony loved Bentley as if he were his child, and could be found on any given day taking him on his daily walk . One of Anthony’s favorite places to hang out was Fells Point. During his walks through the city, he would often spark up conversations with strangers along the way and also on his bus rides to and from home. Anthony was a very special man and he will be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish precious memories: sisters, Blondell Dunaway and Daisy Leach; nieces, Tonya Grant and Sabrina Moore; nephews, Ron Moore and Kevin Moore; grandnieces, Crystal Lessane and Ashely McKenzy; grandnephew, Warren A. Ruffins, Jr.; great-grandnephew, Tobias Ruffins; the family dog, Bentley; and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
