Ansley L. Turner

Ansley Lamin Turner, God’s special gift to Benjamin Turner and Marjorie Turner Guess was born on June 2, 1983 in Baltimore, Maryland where he spent his formative years and received his early education. It was at that time when he learned to know Christ and received Him as his personal Savior. As Hooding Carter, Jr. so fittingly states, there are two lasting bequest we can give our children; one is a root, the other is wings. And so it was, embraced by these two essential fundamentals, that this adventurous spirit would mature, explore and soar to develop like a rippling brook bringing forth fresh water to anyone who had the good fortune to know him. To his parents, he was without a doubt the joy of their lives. At an early age he joined the Friendship Baptist Church of Baltimore, MD under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Alvin Gwynn, Sr. With God as the wind beneath his wings and a strong determination to excel against the odds, Ansley formed a kinship with the English poet who felt that “a man’s reach should exceed his grasp”. His early education was in the Baltimore City School System. Upon graduation from Saint Frances Academy, he further matriculated at Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Virginia where he graduated in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Management Information Systems. Ansley had a passion for computers and found pleasure in meticulously and proficiently performing various tasks. He enjoyed the challenge of correcting and solving the most difficult problems. He was inquisitive, eager to learn and always ready to assist family and friends with a wide range of computer problems. Ansley enjoyed all kinds of sports and was always up-to-date in the sports arena. Ansley loved seeing the world and he and his Father shared special times together fishing on the Atlantic Ocean in Crisfield, MD. He spent many summer vacations in-state and abroad traveling to Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Paris, Tennessee, Florida, and California with his maternal grandparents. During his school tenure, he served as an intern at The Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC. Upon graduating from college, he worked at STG International, Inc. dept. of Health and Human Services, Administration Office of the US Court, Baltimore City and County Public School Systems, and Contract Administrator for Dept. of Defense Defense Contract Management Agency. To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die. Ansley lives on in the hearts of his mother, Marjorie Wilson-Guess (Alfred); his father, Benjamin Turner (Christina); stepbrother, Stephan Turner; maternal grandparents, Viola and (Ulysses Wilson, dec.); paternal grandparents Delcenia Dove and (Adam Turner, dec.); aunts, Mazine Wade (Benton), Peggy Jackson, Alfreda Thomas (Haywood) and Theresa Durham, dec.); special aunts, Sallie Craft (Seafus), Judith Allen, Eliza Wilson, Willie Bell Blackley (Leroy), Gloria Easter (Bill, dec.) and Gladys Williams; uncle, Tony Turner (Sylvia); very close cousins, Michelle Fitts, Shaina Thomas, Rachel Thomas; godparents, Edward and Patricia Simmons; and a host of other relatives and friends
