Annie Florence Carolyn Gray

In the warm comforts of home, surrounded by her loved ones, Annie Florence Carolyn Gray, 69, reunited with her ancestors on February 1, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory son, Donnell Downey: daughters, DeLois Otey (Alfred), Diane Gray and DeShelle Downey; numerous grands and great-grandchildren, sisters, Helen and Jacqueline Gray; brothers, Harold (Carolyn) Gray, Walter (Maxine) Gray, Wiley (Ann) Gray Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her parents Wiley Gray Sr. and Viola Alston Brunson; and two brothers John and Linwood Gray. Momma loved all her children and grandchildren dearly and she spent quality time instilling so much wisdom, knowledge, and precious golden nuggets for them to use for the rest of their lives. Momma was dedicated to the one you love. She had a way of making everyone feel like she was their very best friend. One day she was asked who her best friend was and she cleverly “all of them.” Momma was an excellent nurse and thanks to her skills and God’s grace many of us did not have to go to the doctor. She knew just what to tell you to do and amazingly her remedies worked! One of Momma’s favorite things to do was eat and those who loved her knew that she loved some pork; more specifically she loved pig feet, chitlins, and bacon. No matter how much we tried to get her to eat differently, she insisted on having her pork and had many people working in cahoots with her to make sure she had what she “called pork-a-paloozas.” Momma love to travel and she had the opportunity to visit every state except for Hawaii! She traveled to at least six European countries and even had a journey planned for Germany this summer. Momma had a special touch with flowers and plants, she truly love them. Whenever you see beautiful flowers or plans smile and think of her. Momma was ready to take her final journey from this earth and she transitioned like a true queen. Momma is now traveling with God and her ancestors. When you feel a soft breeze blowing cross your face, smile and think of her, for she is always going to be with the ones she loved, We will always love you momma and you will live on through each of us! Enjoy your next adventure in paradise, you have truly earned your wings..
