Annette Edwards

On December 9, 1940, a blessing was born into the world, ANNETTE YVONNE SANDERS, daughter of the late George W. Sanders and Mallie Sanders. After marriage, she became known as Annette Yvonne Edwards. After a life of service, faith, and love, she peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on January 5, 2026, following health complications. Annette was united in marriage to Frank Edwards, Jr., and from this union, they were blessed with one son, Kelvin Timothy Edwards, whom she cherished deeply. Annette accepted Christ in the early 1970s and remained rooted in her faith throughout her life. She worshiped at Berean Bible Chapel, St. Edward’s Catholic Church, other places of worship, and she found spiritual nourishment through televised sermons. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated with honors from Frederick Douglass High School. She later continued her studies at Loyola College in Maryland. Annette dedicated her professional life to healthcare, working at several medical facilities throughout Baltimore. Her longest and most distinguished service was at Kernan Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Hospital, where she was known for her exceptional dedication, compassion for patients, and professionalism among staff. Annette possessed a heart full of love for her family, friends, community, and even strangers. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time at Carr’s Beach and Sparrow’s Beach and attending events at the historic Royal Theatre in Baltimore. She was also an active participant in the Civil Rights Movement, standing for justice and equality. She had a deep appreciation for nature and found joy in cooking, dancing, and fashion, especially her impressive collection of stylish shoes. Her generosity knew no limits—she freely gave her time, resources, and prayers to others. At one time, she made it a mission to purchase school supplies for neighborhood children, ensuring they had what they needed to succeed. Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Edwards, Jr.; sister, Gloria Purvey; and brothers, Alvin Sanders and Bobby Sanders. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her devoted son, Kelvin Edwards; sister, Carol Johnson; cousins, Flora Trotman and Barbara Adger; nieces, Jacqueline, Sherri, Tracee, Kellie and Rachelle; nephew, Michael; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
