Anne Boone

Mrs. ANNE LILLY BOONE, daughter of the late Timothy and Nellie Lilly, was born on August 11, 1928, in New York City, New York. She departed this life, and transitioned to her eternal reward on July 30, 2018, after an extended period of declining health. Anne received her elementary and secondary education within the New York City Public School System. After matriculating at Hampton Institute (now Hampton University), she received her degree in Home Economics from Morgan State University, and a Masters Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University. During a stellar 28-year career as an Educator within the Baltimore City Public School System, Anne was able to have a positive impact on the many children she taught and the myriad of co-workers and associates she interacted with throughout her career. Her many accomplishments include being a Home Economics instructor, Department Head, Educational Specialist in the field of Home Economics, Principal, Special Projects Director of Nutrition Education and Bi-Lingual Consumer Education in the Elementary School, and Supervisor of Adult Evening Needle Trades in the Baltimore public schools. She also served as a consultant and presenter for Home Economics Education at Hood College, Morgan State University and the University of Maryland at College Park, and was a founding member National Association of Black Americans in Vocational Education, and served on Board of Directors. Since Anne was a firm believer in continuous improvement and was passionate about sharing her experience and expertise, she held memberships in various professional/honorary organizations to include the American and National Home Economics Associations, Metropolitan Area Association of Home Economics, Public School Administrators Supervisors Association of Baltimore City, and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. She was also a member of the Johns Hopkins University Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, and the Gamma Chapter of Phi Delta Gamma National Graduate Honor Society, also at Johns Hopkins University. Anne was also committed to serving the community in which she lived. To this end, she was a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Omega Chapter, the Melds Civic and Social Club, the Howard Park Civic Association, and the Community and Education Outreach Committee of the Baltimore Symphony. Anne gave her life to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at an early age, and was a faithful member of the Madison Ave Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir. As an ordained Elder and Deacon within the Presbyterian Church USA, she also served on the Session, and the Board of Deacons respectively. Anne was married to her "Boyfriend" Mr. Douglas Boone for over 67 years and out of this union three children were born, Douglas Jr., Duane and Dyanne. Anne was a kind and generous person who lived life to the fullest. She was a servant of God, a loving wife, a dedicated mother, educator, world traveler, a good friend, and an agent for positive change within the community in which she lived. During her lifetime she was able to touch the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She truly let her life do the singing. Anne leaves behind to cherish her memory: Her Husband Douglas Boone, Son Douglas Boone Jr., (Debra), Son Duane Boone (Sheila), Daughter Dyanne B. Baldwin (Louis), Sister Constance Lilly, Brother Walter Lilly (Brenda), Grand Daughter Dawna Boone, Grand Daughter Deborah Boone, Niece Savannah Lilly, other nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends.
