ANNAMAE WADE

Annamae Thelma Wade, the fourth child of Leo and Mary Brown Richardson, was born on October 18, 1932 in Huger, South Carolina. She passed peacefully from this life on May 8, 2020 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was educated in the Berkeley County School System where she enjoyed playing basketball, home economics and participating in school plays. She married the late Herman Wade Senior and to that union ten children were born. “Thelma” or “Tena”, as she was affectionately called, was a friend to all that she met. She really loved meeting people and many who began as strangers would later call her friend. Some even looked upon her as another mother. She was an excellent cook and putting that talent towards feeding people was her delight. If she knew your dish, she was sure to make it for you just to make you happy. She also enjoyed fishing, singing, and especially going to her brothers’ “The Richardson Starlight Singers” anniversary. Thelma became a Christian at a very young age and grew greatly in her faith throughout the years. This was evidenced by the peaceful, joyful life she lived. She was a member at Mt. Calvary Star Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland where she used the gifts God gave her to serve others. She was a compassionate soul and would often be found befriending those who were downtrodden. She encouraged many in their walk with the Lord and really desired others to know her Savior. She loved to worship with the people of God and often talked about having “a time” after a particularly spirited service. She would often be “full up” after worshipping with her sisters and brothers in Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends in the Baltimore and Huger area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wade Senior; one son, Gary L. Wade; one grandson, Avery D. Harvey; three sisters and three brothers. She leaves to mourn: nine children, Ruthalee Edwards, Herman Wade Junior, Beulah Maultsby (Edwin), Linda Harvey (Steven), Joe Wade (Barbara), Roy Wade, Darlene Wade, Theresa Poole (Darnell) and Michelle Smith (Christopher); twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, six great, great grandchildren, one sister, five brothers, five sisters-in-law, a special niece and nephew who were raised as her siblings and a multitude of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
