Annabelle M. Cummings

On May 2, 1933, there came into this world an angel- Annabelle Maria Cummings. Annabelle was born to the late Amos and Annie Cummings in Baltimore, Maryland. Annabelle departed this life on January 18, 2009.Annabelle, known as “Annie” or “Bell” by her loved ones, was a strong and loving woman, daughter, sister, mother and friend. She lived and attended school in Baltimore City. Because of her compassion and love for children, she finally fulfilled her life long dream of being self-employed by opening her own day care business, “Annie’s Little Angels.” There, she lovingly tended to children as a day care provider where the kids in her care affectionately called her “Bell-Bell”In her seventy=five years with us, Annabelle touched many lives. She was a very caring person who was always willing to help others in any way that she could. Her home, heart and kitchen were always open to anyone in need.Annabelle’s cherished hobbies were cooking and entertaining family and friends. One of her special pleasures was traveling to Washington College to cook Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner for her son and his basketball teammates. She had an unmistakable smile and laugh that touched everyone around her.Early on in life, Annabelle found God and built a strong spiritual foundation. Throughout her life, Annabelle attended several churches and established many special bonds throughout her spiritual journey. But it was at Rising Sun Baptist Church that she decided to spend the rest of her life serving the Lord. Annabelle always loved the Lord, and prayer was her rock.Her parents, Amos and Annie Cummings and three brothers, Cornelius, Thomas and Raymond Cummings, preceded Annabelle in death.To cherish her memory and celebrate her triumphs, Annabelle leaves to mourn: her daughter, Vonzella Brown-Jones, son Charles Timothy Cummings; sister Agnes Darden, brother, Amos Cummings Jr.; brother-in-law, Charles Darden, son-in-law, Levan Jones; daughter-in-law, Teresa E. Cummings-Creek, Shawdae Brown, Dionte Austin, Donte Brown and Charles Timothy Cummings II; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, children that she cared for in her daycare center and their parents9in particular, Mary Ellen, David, Maggie and Gracey Porter and Susan Boswell) and many friends.
