Mrs. Anna Catherine Moulden

Anna was baptized, received holy communion, confirmation, grade school graduation, and was married at St. Peter Claver Catholic School and Parish. She was a devoted Catholic that lived a long and beautiful life. Anna was one of eleven children in the Stewart’s family of 6 boys and 5 girls. She was the oldest of the surviving siblings, John, Shirley, Margaret and Zik. Anna was also known as “Nadie” or “Ann.” She graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. Anna loved school, and she had the best penmanship in her class. Anna’s signature was pure elegance. Anna married the late Avon Moulden. From this union they had nine children, 6 boys and 3 girls. The couple made sure their children had a decent education attending Catholic schools. For 49 years Anna kept her family together after the death of her husband. She was a woman of great faith, strength, love and resilience. She loves her family and being around people. She taught her children to persevere when facing challenges and to not give up. Anna made sure the family celebrated birthdays, holidays and went to church together as much as possible. She promoted organizing a large family thanksgiving dinner over the years until COVID prevented the gathering. Anna loved learning, she took continuing education classes at the local colleges. She read lots of books, particularly on health and wellness. She loved dancing at parties, family reunions, and other events and always loved telling a joke or two. She was a very committed and energetic member of the Perkins Resident Council. Anna worked numerous jobs during her life, but the most important of all was teaching the children at St. James and St. John’s Catholic School and St. Wenceslaus’ Catholic School. She loved teaching and being around children. She had a special gift for decorating her classroom that drew attention from everyone. She also decorated her home for every holiday as well as posting positive quotes, loving words of encouragement, poems, pictures of her favorite people, her certificates and awards. Anna is survived by: her children, Rodney (Stephanie daughter-inlaw), Carlos (Theresa daughter-in-law), Maryann (Jerome son-inlaw), Dominic (Deidre Lee, friend), Michele and Melanie; siblings, Shirley (Bernice), John (Kool-man), Margaret (Puggie), Charles (Zik); sisters-in-law, Jerri Stewart, Janice Madden-Norton, Harriet Person, Marlene Taylor, Irene Moulden, Barbara Moulden; brother-in-law, Percy Person; nineteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren; and family friend of 40 years Sr. Jeanne Barasha, SSND, Rita Bradby; bonus sons, Fr. Kenneth Gaddy, C.S.S.R. and Kerwin Gaddy; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Avon and sons David, Peter, Shawn, and siblings James, Frances, Mary, Leon, Patrick and Gloria.
