Ann Elizabeth Howard

ANN ELIZABETH WOOD HOWARD was born on March 6, 1945 in Baltimore, MD to the late Virginia Lowery and Elzie Wood, Sr. She was called to be one of God’s angels on January 19, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Ann, affectionately known as “BABY JANE”, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and was a graduate of Dunbar Senior High School. While just a teen, she met the love her life, the late Rodney C. Howard. They were married in December 1965, and to this union three children were born. Ann was employed by the Social Security Administration for thirty-four years. She retired in 1998 when her health began to fail. Ann was a joyful, caring woman who loved music, dancing and a good time. She loved her family and was especially fond of her traveling partner and faithful caregiver, “Net”. They were often referred to as “Thelma and Louise” by their daughters. She was a member of the New Frontiers of Faith Baptist Church for many years. Her strong faith in God was encouraged and fostered by the late, great Pastor Eugene T. Grove, Sr. Until her health declined, she was active in Vacation Bible School and Women’s Fellowship. Although “Net” encouraged her to stay off the choir, she could be seen sitting in the congregation, clapping and swaying to her favorite songs including “Thou Thinkest of Me”. She was a member of the Cancer Survivors of Maryland, a group of ladies who supported each other during their battle with the dreaded disease. “Baby Jane” has left to celebrate her legacy: her children, Cedric Sr., Michael Sr., and Courtney; seven grandchildren, Crisma, Michael Jr., Terrell, Brittany, Jerrell, Gregory Jr. (Lil Gee), Cedric Jr.; six great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Gregory, Sr.; five sisters-in-law, including a very special one, Corrine; two brothers-in-law; a best friend, Toi Brown; her brother, Maurice; sister, Louise; and her “SIIIIIIISTA” as she lovingly referred to, Janette, who stood by her through every appointment, operation, good times and bad; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her baby brother, Elzie, Jr. (Buddy); and her favorite brother-in-law, “Will-O”.
