Aniya Maisha Murdock

Aniya Maisha Murdock, daughter of Mildred Jean Murdock and the late Andrew W. Murdock Jr., was born on January 20, 1977 in Baltimore, Md.. She was the first daughter and 3rd child of six born from this union. Aniya departed this life on March 22, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Aniya received her education in the Baltimore City School Systems. She attended Commodore John Rodgers Elementary, Canton Middle and Patterson High School. She was employed with Deaton Specialty Rehabilitation Center until her illness in 1997. Aniya was the loving mother of three children: Antonio, Ania, and Ania Perry (with whom she had custody of). Aniya took parenting seriously and was a beautiful mother with a very big heart for children. She always had aspirations to open her very own daycare facility. Aniya was affectionately called, “Pooh” by her family and friends. In addition she had several other pet names; Annie Gunt (given to her by her brother), Missa Nelson (given to her by her neighbor’s children), Ant (given to her by Aunt Estelle) and Martha (given to her by the next door neighbor). Pooh loved to shop at Wal-Mart and Target stocking her house with various household products. Martha loved to laugh a lot and cook. You could always count on a good meal. All the children wanted to go to Aunt Pooh’s house. She always took the time to baby sit all of her nieces and nephews; they never wanted to go home because she was so good to them. Aniya attended Refuge Way of the Cross Church under the guidance of Bishop Leroy Cannady Sr. from birth until 1986. After visiting for several years, Aniya, along with her mother and siblings began to fellowship at First Apostolic Faith Church under the leadership of Bishop F. C. Showell. She was later baptized in Jesus’ Name at the Church of the Redeemed of the Lord under the leadership of Bishop Jerome Stokes and Lady Marsha Stokes. Pooh was a faithful member of the 8:00 a.m. service until her health prevented her from attending. Aniya was very close to her mother and siblings. She will be greatly missed by all and forever in our hearts. She leaves to mourn: her three children, Antonio, Ania and Ania Perry; her mother, Mildred Jean Murdock; four brothers, Andrew, Darian, Allen and Colin; two sisters, Lauren and Sha’Kearah; grandmother, Rachel Murdock; brother-in-law, Benjamin; three sisters-in-law, Katina, Nicole and Chauntay; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also a very special aunt, Estelle Perry.
