A TIME TO BE BORN…Andrew Sylvester Doswell was born to the late Sylvester Doswell and Henrietta Doswell. He was the 2nd of three children, born December 1, 1953 in Richmond, VA.A TIME TO LEARN…Andrew was educated in the Richmond Public Schools, graduating from John Marshall High school in 1972. He was an avid sportsman, but his love was baseball.A TIME TO LOVE…Andrew married his childhood sweetheart Doris Dabney on February 17, 1973. From the union of their love was born their gift from God, Antonio Dosell. They made their home in Richmond and later relocated to where their love first began, Hanover County.A TIME TO LIVE AND SERVE…At the age of nine Andrew accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and was baptized into the New Chestnut Baptist Church. He was a dedicated and faithful member. Singing for the Lord was his passion. He served as Past Chairman of the Deacon’s Ministry, President of the Usher’s Ministry, member of the Mass Choir, Trustee Board, Pastor’s Aide, Leader of the Men’s Chorus, and was the Church Sexton. He was a member of the Hanover Deacon’s Conference, Vice President of the Hanover Usher Union and member of the Men’s Fellowship of Hanover and a member of the Chickahominy Mass Choir.Andrew was employed at Alcoa (Reynolds Metals) for 32 years.A TIME TO MOURN…Andrew leaves a legacy of love for his family and friends. Those left to reminisce and cherish fond memories are his loving wife Doris D. Doswell; son, Antonio Doswell; devoted godson and nephew Phillip Cary; mother, Henrietta Doswell Gattison; stepfather, Rev. Bobby Gattison; brother, Lorenzo Doswell; sister, Laurita Doswell; three stepbrothers, Early Gattison, Kenneth Gattison and Bobby McFadden; two stepsisters, Ursula Newkirk and Michelle Waddell; grandmother Estelle Fox; mother-in-law, Teresa Dabney; uncle, Hosea Fox (Beverly); two aunts, Ellen Jefferson and Catherine Dabney (Horace); brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Hanna Fox, Jannie and Alphonso Butler, Ercell and Anthony Garrison, James and Yvonne Dabney and Louis and Wilhelmina Dabney; three nephews, Christopher Anderson, Lamont Doswell and Lorenzo Doswell, II; four great aunts; one great uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
