Andrea Denise Artis-Burke

Legacy of Life Andrea D. Artis-Burke “Gigi” was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 5, 1964 to Raymond Arties Sr. and Rev. Ethel B. Randolph. As a child she attended Richmond Public Schools. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Grayland Baptist Church, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, and Manna Christian Fellowship Church in Richmond, Virginia. She and her husband Kevin moved from Richmond to Hampton and then to Newport News, and worshiped as Saints of God until their health declined and prevented them from Sunday worship. They remained faithful to God’s word with virtual Sunday worship. Over her life she enjoyed helping others, working with children, praying with and for others. She worked as a Child-Care Provider at Randolph Christian Day Care Center for fifteen years with the owner/director the late Rev. Ethel B. Randolph. Her leisure enjoyment was cooking, coloring, board games, puzzles, seek-in-find, talking on the phone with family and friends. She savors phone conversations and Zoom calls with her daughter and granddaughter. She loved quality time with her husband. The youngest of seven children, she was a true woman of God, a strong Prayer Warrior to our family, friends, and many others. Andrea was called home to be with the Lord on April 15, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Arties Sr. and Rev. Ethel B. Randolph; brother, Raymond Arties Jr. and Raymond Arties Jr.; grandmother, Annie Johnson; aunt, Ingrid Anderson; two grandfathers, William Hopkins Sr. and James Edward Johnson; uncle, Willie L. Anderson Sr., and her nephew, Christopher Arties. She leaves to mourn the love of her life, soul-mate, best friend, and loving husband, Kevin Burke; daughter, Ashley Arties; five sons, Demetrick Burke (Markita), Demario Burke (Kiara), Justin Burke, Kevin Burke (Tiffany) and Caleb Burke; fifteen adored grandchildren, Tanisha, Malaya, Malan, Kamari, Maya, Makayla, Makaya, Jay, Ivy, Demetrick, Micah, Ashlee, Isys, Qua’Ran and Gabriel; four loving sisters, Louise Parham (Terry), Ramona Arties (James), Shacquelyn McCormick, Ellen Mosby (Ronald); three caring brothers, Clyde Randolph, Sheldon Randolph and Darius Randolph; two sisters-in-law, Annette Farrior (Bernard) and Marie Arties; two brothers-in-law, Corey Burke and James Hines; five nephews, Millard (Tee), Andreas, Trevon, Josiah and Damien; eight great-nephews, Demetrius, Donovan, Raeki, Gregory, Jamar, Terrance, Shawn and Shyheim; six nieces, Tyffiny, Rachael, Angela, Andrea, Alicia, Angel; nine great-nieces, Zyonna, Zoey, Aziana, Te’arre, Shanyia, Deyani, Alesia, August and Ayanna; uncle, William (Sonny) Hopkins (Jean), Shetland, Scotland; a loving step-father, Sherman Randolph; favorite cousin, Willie Anderson; best friend, Velma Wilkins; and our extended families the Thomas’s, Poteat’s, Gooden’s and Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends. Until We Meet Again Those special memories of you will always bring a smile. If only I could have you back for just a little while; Then we could sit and talk again just like we used to do. You always meant so very much and always will too. The fact that you’re no longer here will always cause me pain But you’re forever in my heart until we meet again.
