Andre L. Edmonds

Andre L. Edmonds, the son of Russell S. Edmonds Sr., and Bernice V. Edmonds was born February 16, 1951 and departed this life on February 6, 2002 after a lengthy illness. Andre was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was employed by Allied Chemical until it closed its Baltimore Plant. Walker Distillers also employed him until a medical condition caused him to be disabled. “Butchie” as he was affectionately called by family and friends was a quiet easygoing person. He was always giving of what he had. During his many hospital stays, he touched many lives; he also touched lives outside of the hospital. Inspite of his immobility he had the courage to go anywhere he felt he needed to be at any given time. He gave his life to Christ back in the summer of 1999. He leaves to mourn, his father, Russell Scott Edmond, Sr.; his only son Andre, two grandchildren, Syrek & Jordan, his mother, Bernice V. Edmonds, two sisters, Gloria & Cecelia, five brothers, Russell, Robert, Gary, Glen and Eric, a great aunt Mary Ware, one sister-in-law, Linda and two brothers-in-law, Charles and Herman, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Kathy.Here at this final hour, in this quiet place, we have come together once again to bid farewell to a family member who is gone from us forever, but will not be forgotten. Although Butchie suffered for several years he always appeared to be happy. Bucthie loved cars and old music. Just a couple of years ago his vision started to fail. He wanted to buy a car and I asked him how was he going to drive it, and he replied, don’t worry I can drive it. Butchie fought a long hard battle with his illness. I remember five years ago his doctors said that he wouldn’t make it to see one more year, but with God’s grace he made it to see several more years. Our mother fed him, clothed him, and took very good care of him. Butchie did not suffer alone, our mother suffered with him, and also felt his pain. Although some of us differed with him or differed with each other about him our mother never gave up hope for him. Now that God has taken him away, the love in our hearts will always stay. We will miss him so much, but will not say goodbye because one day we will be united in God’s Kingdom in the sky.Lovingly Submitted,Your brother Gary
