APHONZO ANGELO CHANCE. 64, affectionately known to his family and childhood friends as “Al or Daddy” peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 12, 2026. God called Alphonzo to heaven’s Garden to begin a new season where weeping will be no more, where pain has turned to wholeness and joy is everlasting. He is now making Heaven his eternal home and joining his loved ones who have gone on before. Alphonzo was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 26, 1961. To the late Willie Chance and Auggie Holmes. He was the youngest child of four children. His brother and sister. Mary and Willie (preceded in death). Al received his education in the Baltimore City School Public: then he attended Job Corps Where he earned his GED diploma in 1982: he made lifelong friends and developed the steady, compassionate spirit that defined his life. Al excelled in many studies through his determination to do great things. His love and passion for trade were a machine operator. In 1980. Al met and began dating the love of his life: Cynthia Diann Caple – Chance Affectionately called “Di” (preceded in death) Their years together were a sacred bond of love. Growth. Laughter. And shared faith. They were united in Holy Matrimony on April 21. 1984 and from this union they were blessed as a blended family with their oldest daughter. Phadrea Lawrence and two children Tanisha and Alphonzo who were nurtured with unconditional love. Spiritual and guidance and wisdom. At an early age Al accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and has been a faithful. And dedicated servant to the Lord ever since. On Sunday, July 28, 2024 he was baptized at Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland under the genuine care and exceptional leadership of Dr. Rev. Reginald Thomas, Sr., Pastor. He was a faithful and committed servant member. Who loved Reading his Bible. Attending worship services and praising the Lord. While there. He was privy to great teaching his Bible, attending worship services and praising the Lord. While there. He was privy to great teaching and preaching which he thoroughly enjoyed. He had a personal relationship with the Lord that involved not just talking the talk. But also walking the walk. During his life Al held several positions at a few companies in Baltimore in the Baltimore city region until accepting a job at Cambridge metal and Iron Company where he worked for 20+ years until his death failed in 2018. His favorite past times included #1 favorite (Baltimore Ravens) football, baseball, music, and spending time with family.“To know Him Was to Love Him” …. To family and friends who know him well, at the top of his priority was his family … loving, caring and supportive. He was an example. He was example of dignified. Kindhearted and generous man. Those that knew him would say he was as a genuine person who gave his talents, time and service to God. Al was kind, cheerful, friendly, loving person. He was one with an infectious smile, a natural gift of gab, and engaging conversationalist. He made numerous friends wherever he went. A young man who wanted to be happy and do what was right. He tried not to burden others with his woes; he did his best to push through and make a way as best as he could. He had a fond passion for dancing and being around family and friends. He was a man of unwavering principles and strong resolve; a man with big heart and humble spirit who went out of his way to help anyone in need. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with his significant other, Angie, where on occasions they did staycations in and outside of Maryland, but their most enjoyable times wee when they went out to dance, eat, run errands, and have a good time just walking their (Yorkies) fury friends T.J. and Lia. Al was a very helpful guy with a caring heart. As a skilled and creative carpenter and machine operator among other skills by trade, he created things for family and friends that was practical for everyday use. You could count on him to show up when you needed him. He enjoyed looking at family photos and videos. He valued making memories and swapping stories with his family and friends. During family gatherings, he was known for his humor and quick wit. He was always making everyone laugh. A. enjoyed reminiscing and reflecting on many family stories of the past. Spending time with his children, family, and friends was important to Al. Each relationship was special and unique to him. His rearing of his children was truly a collection of the village. His special relationship with his small unit of family extended beyond to friends which was priceless. There was an inseparable bond between them that connects them together all as a priceless treasure. They will always have a piece of his heart….and a friend forever. Now he reunited with loved ones who have preceded him and entered eternal rest. Although he was one who loved to have fun and enjoyed life, he was also a humble yet gentle giant of a man. His presence, energy, loving spirit, laughter and smile will be truly missed by all. That twinkle in his eyes., the wave of his hands and unspoken words will resonate forever. Al leaves to cherish his fond and loving memories his, three children, Phadrea Lawrence, (Jesse Holley, Sr) Tanisha Chance. (George Davis), Alphonzo Angelo Chance; one grandchild, Jesse Holley, Jr.; also remembered with his significant other, Angela Carter; one brother, Sylvester Chance one brother-in-law, Darrin Woodland; one sister-in-law, Francine Ford, (Roscoe); best friend, Tina Mosley, (Larry); two God -daughters, Taiwan Carter and Tanya Tucker, his special yorkie fur babies, T.J. and Lia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relations and friends; and the Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church Family. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Auggie Cynthia Diann Caple-Chance Chance; Loving wife, Cynthia Diann Caple-Chance; brother and sister, Willie and Mary McMillan…. We give honor and praise for the life of ALHONZO ANGELO CHANCE. His life was one of purpose, service and love. His memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to witness the grace and strength with which he lived his life. He will be greatly missed by those he loved and those who loved him. We will not say so long, or goodbye, we will simply say, until we meet again Al!
