Life Reflections The Life, Love and Legacy of Alma Inez Robinson On a peaceful, brief Fall morning, as nature continued is transformation from the old to the new, so did our beloved, Alma Inez Robinson. She departed this life October 20, 2012. At the age of 91, she leaves a legacy built upon unyielding faith, dedication for the stick and love for her family. As written in the scripture of her favorite book Isaiah, 43 “ when thou passed through the waters, I will be with thee; when thou walking through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.. I even I am the Lord; and beside me there is no Savior.” Born, May 2, 1921, was the 10th of the 13 siblings of Hezekiah and Mary Jane Robinson. In the small country town of Studley, Virginia, Alma and her siblings, Jimmy, George, Sadie, Celestine, Hezekiah, Jr., Rebecca, Archie, Joseph, Bertha, Ernest, Gladys, and Orby shared love and laughter, and experienced their childhood over the open fields in Hanover County. Alma attended Hanover public schools. Her devotion to Christ began May, 1955 when she was baptized in Jesus name by Mother Sue I. Edwards in the small, quaint church on the hill -formerly named Apostolic Faith Holiness. Her zeal to Christ is best revealed in her motto used to encourage her siblings and others to experience the joy she discovered in Christ “if you think what you got us right, I dare you to try mind." It was not just her words, but her actions and deeds which resulted in many giving their life to Christ. To cherish the memory of Mother Alma are 3 sons, Philip Robinson (preceded in death), Dennis, Gilbert Lee,Sr., and Donald,Sr.; daughters-in-law, devoted Virginia, Joan, Jenny (preceded in death) and Vickie. Ex daughters-in- law, Sandra Robinson and Deborah Sue Fyre; 15 grandchildren, Cynthia Perkins, Gloria Wyatt, Phyllis Robinson, Dennis Robinson,Jr.(deceased),Joi Andrews, Deborah Robinson, Miriam Rattliff, Gilbert Robinson, Jr., Anthony Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Nicholas Robinson, Whitney Robinson, Corey Robinson, Donald Robinson, Jr.,Shantel Carpenter, and Monique Morgan; 32 great-grandchildren; 4 great -great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and their best and devoted friend of over 40 years Elizabeth Hamner( deceased), a devoted niece, Wanda Reynolds , a caring friend, Naomi Sarbo and her caregiver Cynthia Wilson. Affectionately known as “Mother Alma”, “Grandma Neal”, “Aunt Neal” and “Sister Neal”, is gone to the place that Christ promised to prepare for her. There, she will receive her crown of righteousness. Mother Alma will live on in our memory and has left a legacy that will be cherished and etched in our hearts forever. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course and I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7
