Psalm 55:6 AMP Our Butterfly, Allison Mia Hunter, 58, of Midlothian, Virginia, peacefully transitioned from this life to Heaven on December 29, 2025, embraced in the love of her family. She was a devoted mother, daughter, a sister, an aunt, a niece, a cousin, and a friend to all she encountered. She was a miracle baby born on September 27, 1967, in Norfolk, Virginia to her parents June Hunter and the late, Albert “Al” Hunter. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marian Irving, her uncle, Robert “Bob” Irving, and her great aunt & spiritual mentor, Nellie Evans. Allison was a bright shining light bringing warmth and lifting spirits. She had a profound impact and influence touching the lives of numerous people through her enduring love, kindness, inspiration & joy, that leaves a legacy of positive connections. Allison lived a life deeply rooted in Faith, Service, and Unwavering Belief in the power and promises of God and family. Allison experienced divine visions from God at the early age of 5. She accepted Christ at 6 years old and was baptized at 11 years old at the New Testament Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA. As she matured in the things of the Lord, she joined St. Paul’s Baptist Church while in college. Allison was a proud graduate of I. C. Norcom High School, Portsmouth, VA, Class of 1985, and she went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Management with a minor in Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 1990. She furthered her education from VCU by receiving her Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1992. Allison crossed those burning sands into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated on April 20, 2024. She was #64 on a line of 115. In Delta Land, she was known as “Shark Tank”. From the moment she received her acceptance into Delta, her excitement was impossible to miss. Upon moving to North Carolina, Allison began a distinguished career dedicated to human services. She first joined CNC, Inc. in Statesville, where she began her impactful work before accepting a QDDP position at their Goldsboro office. These early years laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to the IDD community. Her passion for patient rights later led her to O’Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center as a Patient Advocate, and she eventually transitioned to public service as a State Auditor for the NC Department of Health and Human Services (Division of Health Service Regulation). Her journey of service culminated in Virginia, where Allison worked for the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance as an auditor for several years prior to connecting with the Metropolitan Business League (MBL). Allison faithfully served the MBL for nine years, providing exceptional leadership, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to its mission of supporting small business owners. She was the driving force behind the establishment of the Youth Entrepreneur Program (YEP) in local high schools, through which more than 700 students have been supported and empowered. Her impact on the organization’s work and culture cannot be overstated. Allison led with integrity, compassion, and purpose, and her legacy will continue to shape the Metropolitan Business League for years to come. In 2000, Terry Evans, Sr. married Allison Hunter and from this union they became the proud parents of two sons, Terry L. and Hunter J. Evans. This was a committed marriage for 8 years. Allison is survived by her devoted sons, Terry and Hunter Evans, her nurturing mother, June A. Hunter, 3 loving sisters, Rosalind Knox (Darryl), Vanessa Davis and Glenda Irving (Best Friend to the very end), a wonderful aunt, Linda “LoLo” Jones and an uncle, Wayne Irving, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who will forever cherish her memory. Allison also leaves behind life-long, loyal, compassionate and inseparable friends with Monique, Sharon, Michelle, Vickie, Catrina, Deaunna and Shelia. They were bonded in an undeniable sisterhood, along with other notable friendships. Allison’s legacy will live on vividly in the minds and hearts of others, withstanding the test of time. Her warmth, wisdom and unwavering love will remain with us forever in our hearts. “Gone too soon and never forgotten – your memory lives on.” “Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
