Alice Vashtie Christopher

John 3:16 Alice Vashtie Christopher, widow of the late Eugene Randolph Christopher and daughter of the late Willie Bell and Chaney Alice Randle was born May 5, 1927, the youngest of five siblings. She attended elementary and secondary schools in her hometown of Rice, Virginia. In 1950, she became a licensed cosmetologist while working as a private duty nurse in Baltimore Maryland. As an owner and operator of a beauty salon, Alice loved her profession and clients. She retired in 1990 celebrating forty years in her career. Alice Randle and Eugene "Randolph" Christopher were united in holy matrimony in 1949. From this union, they created a loving family with four daughters, Myrna, Charlotte, Barbara, and Joann. The couple shared their service to the church, loved traveling and celebrating family and friends. Alice was an exceptional cook and Randolph was an exceptional eater because he loved her cooking. Alice was a second mother and grandmother to many, always willing to lend a listening ear. She will always be remembered for her nurturing spirit and love for others. She began her spiritual journey at an early age, joining High Rock Baptist Church in Rice, Virginia. She later joined Enon Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1952. She was a good and faithful servant. Her participation and leadership in church clubs and circles was a true testament of her devotion to the church. She was a steadfast member of the Senior Usher Board for over forty years. She served with esteem as the President of the Jones Watkins Missionary Circle for twenty years. Additionally, she was a devout and committed member of the Willing Workers, Granison Seniors, Comfort Committee, Kitchen Ministry, Home Coming and Church Anniversary Committees throughout her time-enduring relationship with Enon Baptist Church. Alice enjoyed fellowship with the Enon family and sister churches. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Charlotte Reed (Baltimore, MD) Barbara Collins (Baltimore, MD), and Dr. Joann Christopher Hicks (Owings Mills, MD); Five nieces, Sarah Thompson (Jetersville, VA), Viola Johnson (Burkeville, VA), Edna Jones (Samuel) (Burkville, VA), Sandra Christopher (Baltimore, MD), Brenda Christopher (Baltimore, MD), one nephew, Simuel Booker (Betty), (Burkville, VA); eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
