Alfred Peels

ALFRED PEELS, was born on July 15, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was an only child, who was nurtured and raised by his mother, Hilda Taylor and his stepfather, Benjamin Taylor. After a lengthy illness, God chose to call him home on Friday, May 27, 2011. Alfred graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland. He enlisted in the United States Army and served three years in World War II. Alfred married his sweetheart, Eleanor Sheridan. From this union four children were born. Alfred worked at Continental Can Company and later was employed by United States Post Office as a supervisor until his retirement. Alfred later attended Morgan State College, part-time. Alfred later attended Morgan State College, part-time. Alfred and Eleanor joined Orchard Street church under the guidance of Rev. Earnes. Some of the members of Orchard Street Church left and transferred there membership to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Alfred became a member under Rev. Franklin in January of 1957. Alfred was a devoted husband, father and provider and made sure his family’s needs were met. He was a strong disciplinarian and taught his children the importance of working hard to achieve their wants and to become self-sufficient. Education was his top priority. Alfred participated in the PTA and attended all of his children’s teacher’s conferences. Alfred leaves to mourn: his wife, Eleanor Peels; three daughters, Deborah (Peels) Jackson and Husband, Shephard Jackson, Patricia Peels and Tanayra Peels; two sons, Melvin Peels and Carlos James, Preceding him in death are children, Barbara Johnson and Larry Peels, Sr. Alfred had fifteen grandchildren, Larry and wife Christina Peels, Lisa and husband Carroll Reese, Antonio Peels, Chantaye Peels, Torrie Jackson, Patrick Hayes, De’Ja Jackson, De Erica Jackson, Madison Clark, Curtis James, Jr. Karen Johnson and Lisa Johnson. Alfred also leaves twenty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren; special friends, Beora Clark, Charles and Margaret Wells; a host of friends and relatives. God’s promise to Abraham was to give him as many children as stars in the sky. (Genesis 12) Alfred was truly favored by God.
