Albert Wade

On June 26, 1934, in Enfield, N.C., the journey of a great man began. ALBERT WADE was the second eldest son of ten children born to Samuel and Elna Wade. He graduated from Phillips High School in Battlesboro, N.C. Albert moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1954 to attend Morgan State University. Upon his arrival in Baltimore, Albert joined Southern Baptist Church where he proudly served as an usher for more than 50 years. Shortly after, he married Barbara Kollock with whom he had three daughters and one son: Denise, Donna, Zee and Albert (Tank). He was later blessed with his youngest daughter, Ericka. In 1987 Albert Wade married the former Katherine Gary with whom he has enjoyed 21 fruitful years.Albert was affectionately known as "Zip" during the early years for the driving skills he displayed speeding through his hometown. While employed by American Smeltering Company in Baltimore, he inherited the name 'Muutley' for his love of laughter. After his retirement, Albert let it be known to all: "I AM THE CAPTAIN OF THIS SHIP." AND...So it was declared! Albert Wade became known as: "THE CAPTAIN." Everybody checked in with The Captain. However, there was an indelible bond between him and his daughter Donna-who always had his back-because as he put it, "That girl is just like me"; and as she professed, "He is my friend, my confidant, and my best man." If you needed to know the whereabouts of any family member, The Captain could tell you. He was routinely updated on family affairs including daily activities, family events, travel itinerary and most of all, the latest gossip. We jokingly referred to him as "U.S.A. Today" because he got the news and he spread it. We will surely miss how he started our day with the early morning phone call.The Captain leaves to carry on his rich legacy of laughter, love and joy; his wife, Katherine Eade; four daughters, Denise Whye, Donna Wade, Zee Ennels, Ericka Cooks and son, Albert D. Wade; four sons-in-law, Michael Whye, Darrell Beech, Chris Ennels, Bernard Cooks and daughter-in-law, Lisa Wade; grandchildren, Phillip, Quinn, Donnell,Cheryl,Donyelle,Gershawn,Aneesah,Syreeta and Cassie,great-grandchildren, Philice,Shalya,Nakya,Nigel,Kamille,Jnae,Donnell Jr.,Raezealan, Jadin,Justin,Kimori and Aniya. He is also survived by three sisters, Donnie McQueen(Carnell) of Patterson,NJ,Celestine Lewis(Raymond) of Baltimore,MD. and Alfreda Rhodes of Milwaukee; five brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law(six of his siblings preceded him death).
