Adolphus Mckinley Rodgers

Adolphus McKinley Rodgers (Kenny) was born on June 4, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland to Adolphus Rodgers and the late Mildred M. Rodgers. He departed this life on Saturday, April 11, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Kenny’s education was completed at Dunbar High School where he was an honor roll student. He also attended Morgan State University majoring in social justice.Kenny worked in the Mayor’s Office for several years. He also worked at the Baltimore City Department of Social Services where he retired after many years of service.Kenny and Carolyn were united in holy matrimony on March 20, 1993. Kenny was a devoted husband. He loved his wife and believed in supporting her. Carolyn lovingly called Kenny “Hon”. Not only was he a loving husband, he was a caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His grandchildren affectionately called Kenny “dag”, “pop-pop”, “Uncle Kenny” and “granddad”. By his grandchildren.Kenny was introduced to the Lord by two of his dear friends, Doris Rogers and Helen Jackson. He was baptized at First Apostolic Faith Church on August 24, 1986 under the leadership of the late Bishop Winfield Showell. Shortly thereafter, he received the gift of the Holy Ghost at a spirit-filled service in Elkton, Maryland.Kenny served as a faithful usher, exhorter, deacon, worship leader, Sunday school and P0YPU teacher, van driver and member of the combined choirAt St. Paul Apostolic Faith Church, under the leadership of Pastor Josephine Diggs. He continued his faithfulness serving as a deacon and an usher at True Gospel Apostolic Faith Church, under the leadership of Pastor Otto Richardson. Kenny also attended Evangelistical Training course for certification as a teacher.Deacon Adolphus Rodgers leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Evangelist Carolyn Rodgers of 16 years, his father, Adolphus Rodgers, four children, faithful daughter, Janice Hudson {Michael). Derrick Rodgers (Razan), Cheryl Rodgers, devoted daughter Terell Carter; one brother, Troy Rodgers (Theresa); one uncle, Bernard Blackwell (Janice); six uncles preceded him in death, Elmer Blackwell (Ruth), Harold Blackwell (Jewel), Franklin Blackwell, Earl Blackwell, Theodore Blackwell (Grace), Michael Blackwell; three aunts, Gwendolyn Smith, Barbara Blackwell preceded him in death, Linda Bright; one nephew, Troy Rodgers, Jr. (Lynette), Brandon Miller and Tyus Jackson (whom he nurtured as sons); nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild; devoted friends, Joyce Blackwell and Elder Edward Henson; and a host of cousins, church family, friends and neighbors.
