Addie Lee Brooks

ADDIE LEE BROOKS, daughter of Ethel Wise and the late Willie Lee Kendall was born on January 17, 1959 in Geneva, New York. She departed this life on October 2, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Addie received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She graduated from Lake Clifton-Eastern High School in 1977. Upon her completion of high school, Addie attended several colleges earning multiple certifications and certificates of completion. Addie was a nursing assistant at Genesis Long Green where she worked until her health began to fail. Addie was a loving woman with a big smile and an even bigger heart. She was the epitome of what a real woman should be. She loved her family and her love for the Lord never waivered. Addie truly blessed the Lord at all times. She was baptized as a child at Blazing Star Pentecostal Church. She attended several churches, her most recent church was The United Brethren for Christ church. Addie had three children of her own, Shantavia Green, Juanita Hart and Vernell Wooden. She raised Jermaine Brooks and helped raise DeKeirra Wimberley, Mitchell, Shavonna and Devontay Carter and Samarah Mattison. She loved each of them as her own. Addie or as she loved to be called "Ms. Chocolate" lived her life to the fullest and she'll be truly missed by all who came to know and love her. Addie was a fighter and she fought to the very end. Preceding her in death are: two sisters, Shelia Brooks and Ireleen Oliver; three brothers, Joseph Brooks, David Brooks and James "Buster" Sapp (Geneva, New York) and a lifelong friend, Nina Brandon. Addie leaves to mourn: her mother, Ethel Wise; stepmother, Otis Kendall (Rochester, New York); three children Shantavia, Juanita and Vernell; son-in-law, Tony Green; goddaughter, Latonya Brandon; four granddaughters, Ya-Maya, Aunyae, Maliyah and Taylor; three sisters, Shirley Brooks,Ida Herman (Rochester, New York) and Sharon Sapp (Florida); three brothers, Charles Brooks, John Brooks and David Sapp (Florida); two lifelong friends, Regina Franklin and Karen Smith; many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
