Tamika LaShawn Hendricks

Tamika LaShawn Hendricks was born on May 30, 1975 to Paula Renee Griffin and Ray Muhammad in Baltimore, Maryland. Tamika quietly took her final flight, booked for the Holy City on February 26, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Tamika had made reservations when she accepted Christ as her personal Savior many years ago. Her transition was a smooth flight. All she had to do was show her boarding pass. She knew God was with her all the way to her destination. Tamika, fondly known as “Mikki” was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System where she graduated from Western High School in 1993. She attended and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1997. After graduating with a degree in Speech Therapy, she had several jobs upon graduating, but it was her job at Prometric, LLC. that kick-started her twenty-year career in Customer Service. Mikki was a gentle, humble young lady with a quiet spirit and a beautiful smile. She showed resilience, gratitude, kindness and optimism no matter the situation. Mikki enjoyed spending time with family, hanging out with close friends, reading, traveling, listening to music and even playing around with real estate. However, we cannot forget the entrepreneurial spirit she had and her businesses ranging from running her snowball stand on North Avenue to the blinged out Christian t-shirts she made and sold. Mikki was a devoted member of New Psalmist Baptist Church and regularly attended Sunday Service and Bible Study prior to her illness. Mikki saw her journey with her illness as an opportunity to share and to show the love of Christ to all who visited her and talked with her. Her attitude about her journey with her illness is best expressed in II Timothy, 4:7- “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” A legacy of love and compassion has been imprinted on the hearts of all the lives Mikki has touched. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Louise T. Crawford, Nora Sue Belle and Haywood Hendricks. Celebrating her life and legacy are her mother Paula R. Griffin; father Ray Muhammad; brother Rashid Muhammad; uncles Robert Ferguson and James Parker (Melissa); aunts Synthia Muhammad, Pamela Ferguson-Booker (Larry), Unissa Cruse, Charmaine Hamlin (Eric), Renee Crawford-Reid, Romaine Mulley (Bob) and Pearl Haynes (Edwin); a special friend Harold Southall and a host of many other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
