Shirley V. Knotts

SHIRLEY KNIGHT-KNOTTS was born on August 5, 1943 in Littleton, North Carolina. After a lengthy illness, she departed this life at Good Samaritan Hospital on Wednesday August 17, 2011 Shirley was the baby girl of Joseph and Violet knight . As a child she accepted the Lord Jesus Christas her Savior and was baptized at Cedar Branch Church in Littleton. Shirley came to Baltimore, Maryland at fourteen, where she completed her education at Carver Vocational Technical High School. She received certification in Culinary Art and also became a certified Phlebotomist. As a woman of many talents, Shirley began her working career in the medical field at City Hospital, where she worked as an emergency room technician. When she changed careers, she used her certification in Culinary Art at the Ambassador Dining Room, where she worked as a head Chef. She later returned to the medical field where she worked as a Phlebotomist for Good Samaritan Hospital,retiring in 2002 as a Home Health Aid. On May 19, 1960, Shirley married the love of her life, Nathaniel Knotts. Their blessed union produced two children: the late Conrad knotsand Vanessa Chiryl Knotts. Shirley was active member of Huber Memorial for more than twenty-three years, where she taught Saturday Sheol to God's little lambs. She sang on various choirs, was a member of Champions of Faith, the Everybody's Birthday Ministry,the Women of Integrity, and various other ministries throughout the years. She loved shopping and had a taste for fine things. She loved her family and planned many events that brought them together. She spent many happy times traveling, and playing Scrabble and Bejeweled on her computer. Shirley leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Vanessa Chiryl Knotts; four grandchildren, Ebony Owens (Keith), LaKisha Goldston(Brian), Megan Butler and Louis Butler III; one son-in-law, Louis Butler, Jr three sisters, (all residing in Dallas, Texas) Lois Bias, Leoma Thompson and Geraldine Holbert (Larry); one brother, Gene Rogers knight; four sisters-in-law, Loretta Christon, Florine Mackey, Peggy Chambers and Pamela Rorie (Roger); three brothers-in-law, Paul Knotts (Delores), James Knotts (Carol) and Dennis Knotts; two stepchildren, Alisa Johnson and Tony Knotts; five step-children, Edward (Amanda), Crystal, DeVon, Erica and Tony,Jr; nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of devoted friends.
