Rose Harris

Today we celebrate the birth,life,and home going of a daughter,mother and grandmother. A women that enjoyed giving and teaching others,that life is a privilege not to be taken lightly, Filled with many obstacles that can be maneuvered with grace. Her greatest love was to bring a smile to someone that was down or ill. From making others smile she seemed to draw strength and would always show light. The Lord called Rose home to be with Him on Saturday,October 15,2011 at the time the sun was starting it's ascension into the heavens. The start of a new day was in store for her and for all that cherished her love. For her it was peace from her earthly illness. For us,another lesson in life,to hold special the time we have here with others,and strive to always bring brightness. Our hearts are saddened,but we are here to rejoice in our spirits, as we look forward to seeing her lovely smile once again. Rose Delphine Brown Harris,referred to by her family as "Roszebe",was born on Wednesday, January 14,1959 to Margaret Alease Brown and the late Gerald Ottoway Brown,Sr. She was the fourth child of six children. Rose grew up and attended school in Henrico County,in which she was a member of the Cheerleader Squad,Gymnastics Team and Track and Field. The girl was really quick on her feet. She had some of the fastest speeds in track posted on Highland Springs High School walls for quite some time. Rose graduated "Class of 77" from Highland Springs. Rose then raised two children for several years working at Lucky's Convenience Store and A.H. Robins pharmaceuticals. Rose and Dwayne met and moved to Charles City,VA.,along with his two children in 1990,they lived in an old farmhouse with a tin roof. Rose loved the sound of the rain hitting the tin and hearing all her children running and playing through the house. This was a special memory of hers. While there Rose worked at The Virginia Department of Taxation,Stanley Hardware and an adult home. It was then that she recognized her love of helping people that could not care for themselves. Rose immediately jumped to the task of being a caregiver. This really made her shine. She loved helping with all of her heart. After raising her children in a pleasant country atmosphere she felt it was time to mature for the upcoming new millennium. Rose and Dwayne found a house close to where they grew up as children and together worked on it day and night for two months. Rose was exceptional at construction projects and in December 1999 they moved the family. Rose was married to Dwayne Alan Harris on Saturday,January 9,2000. She completed the Certified Nurse's Assistant program at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College "Class of 2003" while studying to become a Registered Nurse. She worked for many years with Bon Secours St. Frances Hospital and Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. Rose had found her passion in the nursing field and spent her last years doing something that she truly loved. As we celebrate Rose's home going,she leaves us having lived a full and joyful life,knowing who God was. Rose was preceded in death by her father;Gerald Ottoway Brown,Sr. She leaves to cherish her loving memory,a loving and devoted husband,Dwayne A. Brown;one daughter,Mellisha S. Brown; three sons;Leonadas D. Brown,Dwayne A. Harris,Dwight A. Harris;one granddaughter,MaKaelyn L. Jones;mother Margaret Alease Brown;two sisters,LaSandra B. Rose(Jerry)and Bonnie B. Moore(Oscar);three brothers,Gerald O. Brown,Jr.(Ruby Hembry),Reginald A. Brown(Francine)and Michael C. Brown;mother-in-law,Peggy Harris and a host of relatives and friends. Rose Delphine Brown-Harris will be dearly missed and can never be replaced. God has sent for His angel and she is now in a better place,with no more pain and sorrow.
