Patricia A. Jones

Patricia Ann Jones, born April 28, 1960, the youngest daughter of the late George M. Jones and Anna Louise Jones. Patricia lost her long battle with cancer on Thursday, May 30, 2002. Her battle began at the tender age of 15. Patricia fought hard to strive and went on to live and interesting and full life. After graduating from Seton High, Patricia attended Morgan State University. She left Morgan and ventured off to Boston University. She graduated from Boston University in 1984 with BSDegree in Journalism. Patricia decided to spread her wings and take up residence in New York. She pursed her career as a journalist working at Black Enterprises Magazine. She also did free lance writing for such magazines as Family Circle, Women’s Day and the Crisis Magazine for NAACP. She also wrote articles for the Catholic Review and the New York Post. Patricia traveled all over the world to such places as Africa, Italy, Copenhagen and Paris to name a few.She accomplished her dream of being a novelist by writing three books, two of which have been published, Passing and Red on a Rose. The son of Ham will be published next year. Pat, as she was known was a journalist, and author, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and a friend. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She leaves a void in our lives and our hearts that will never be filled. Patricia is survived by her husband, Derek Bacchus; mother, Anna L. Jones; three sisters, Velma Adams, Bettye Pettiford, Annette Dodson; one brother, Thomas Jones; a mother-in-law, Donna Hughes; father-in-law, Patrick Bacchus; step father-in-law, Jack Hughes; two sister-in-laws, Shawn Bacchus and Allison Karahadian; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Adams, Larry Dodson and Clinton Pettiford, Esq.; three nieces, Kenya Dodson, Kelley Pettiford, Erin Dodson; four nephews, Mark Adams, Derek Dodson, T. Christopher Jones, Keith Pettiford; one great niece, Kayla Pettiford; cousins, Sylvia Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Leroy Monroe, Jr. (Chuck), Rosalie Griffin, Robert Rice; one aunt, Elizabeth Monroe (Betty); and a host of other relatives and very, very close friends.
