Pamela A. Hall

PAMELA AUDREY HALL was born on March 31st, 1956 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Dr. William Martin Hall and Mildred DaSilva Hall. She transitioned on January 21st, 2014 in Baltimore, MD. Pam grew up the middle child of five in Baltimore, MD., graduating from Western High School in 1974. She continued her education at Howard University, where she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Communications in 1978. She began her broadcasting career while in college, working on the campus radio station, WHBC, and as the assistant music director at WHUR-FM. After College, Pam left Washington D.C. and moved to New York to work with Hal Jackson and as the Music Director at WBLS-FM (Inner City Broadcasting), and later worked with Frankie Crocker. After leaving WBLS, Pam was a Promotions Representative for Prelude Records, later becoming a regional promotions manager and A&R representative at Arista Records in New York. She returned to Baltimore in 1984 and worked in cable TV and as a legislative aide before becoming an independent record rep in the Mid-Atlantic region. In 1993, she returned to WHUR as the Music Director, later becoming the interim Program Director. She held a few positions in the financial industry beginning in 1997, working for T. Rowe Price and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. In 2000, Pam became Program Director and on-air personality for the Jazz channel, “Riff” at WorldSpace Satellite Radio Network in Washington, D.C., where she worked for the next 8 years. She also built the format and database for the WorldSpace Gospel Channel. Prior to becoming Program Director in 2011 for Morgan State’s WEAA-FM, Pam built the business plan and assembled an operational team to start a Low-Power FM Broadcast Radio station. After leaving WEAA, Pam worked diligently on her dream of launching her own radio station to broadcast contemporary Gospel through her company, Radiant Broadcasting LLC. Pam was a devoted partner of Spirit of Faith Christian Center, where she served with the media ministry team. She was a community- and family-oriented lover of God who lived a spirit-filled life. Pam was like a second mom to all of her nieces and nephews and loved hearing about and being a part of everything they were involved in. She was the rock of the Hall family: a true giver whose generosity was exhibited in an unconditional and humble manner. She was organized and an impeccable record-keeper. She enjoyed sports and played basketball, table tennis, tennis and was an avid swimmer. Pam loved to watch sports as well, whether it was cheering relatives on at their gaming events or watching the Baltimore Ravens. Her favorite sports to view and attend were football, basketball, and tennis. Pam attended live music concerts and events throughout her life and became good friends with many of the performers. Pam loved to travel. Some of the places she visited included Holland, Paris, Spain, Suriname, Morocco, India and Saint Maarten. Pam spent her summers on Martha's Vineyard as a child. As an adult, she tried to never miss a summer at the Vineyard. Pam was highly intelligent, well-read, and an avid debater who could hold her own on a myriad of subjects. She was included in Who’s Who in American Colleges for academic leadership and service achievements. Pam was an announcer, music programmer, and music director, serving as a prominent member of the Music Industry for over a quarter of a century. She was named Black Radio’s Music Director of the Year in 1992. She was also nominated for BILLBOARD’s Music Director of the year and was credited with breaking numerous new artists into the music industry. Pam is survived by: her mother, Mildred DaSilva Hall; father, William Martin Hall, M.D.; siblings, William Martin Jr., Patricia Diane, Julie Hall Lowe, Norman Berkeley, Phillip Dorsey, and Kristy Hall Reel; aunt, Audrey Hall Coleman; uncle, Norman DaSilva; fourteen nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins.
