Maggie D. Johnson

Maggie was united Holy Matrimony to The Reverend Wardell F. Johnson. They relocated to Greesboro, North Carolina where she served as the First Lady of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Maggie enjoyed a blessed union the Reverend Johnson for Forty-Nine (59) years. During this union, they were blessed to raise one daughter, Evelena. Maggie lovingly supported her husbandand the congregation until his passing. After the death of husband, Maggie transitioned to Baltimore, maryland to be closer to her family members. Here, she joined the fellowship of israel Baptist Church, under the tutelage of Rev. Dr. H. Walden Wilson, II Maggie had an eye for design and was always seen wearing the latest fashions anthe “snazziest” hats.She was an excellent seamtress and took pride in sewing clothes for business associates, family members and friends. In addition to sewing , Maggie was excellent singer. She spent many years singing on the church choirs and sharing the gospel with others through song. After living on her own for several years and in an assisted living environment, Maggie's health began to deteriorate. She found it increasingly diffcult to manage her daily routines, so she moved to the Holly Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Towson, Maryland. On Tuesday, June 28, 2011, God, in His infinite wisdow. gently took Maggie Dell Johnson, into His loving arms, where she is now making heaven her eternal home and joining her loved ones who have preceded her in dearh – her parents, her husband , her four sisters, Willie Mae Cherry, Sarah Dixon, Eloise Pearson and Annie Wilkerson, and two brothers, J. W. Reese and Johnny Reese. She will be truly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Maggie leaves to cherish fond memories: a daughter , Evelena Taylor of Baltimore, MD; three grandsons, Tony Johnson of Greenboro, N.C., Melvin and Adarius Taylor of Baltimore, MD.; two sisters, Estelle Thomas of Baltimore, MD and Betty Brown of Dayton, Ohio one brother-in-law, John Wilkerson of Baltimore, MD.; two special friends, Quincy Higgins and Ruth Chisholm of Greensboro,N.C. A special godson, Ricky Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
