The Legacy of Linda Lee Golden For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. I Thessalonians 4:14 On Sunday, March 17, 2013, God sent two angels to Virginia to accompany Linda Lee Golden of 2833 Eagle Trace Terrace to be with her Lord and Savior in heaven. She had been cared for by her two loving daughters. Linda was born June 6, 1948 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Beatrice and Haddon B. Murray, Sr. She was preceded in death by her four siblings, Lillian M. Jones, Constance Beatrice Price, Laverne L. Seay and Haddon Benjamin Murray II. She was reared in the Jackson Ward community, where she attended the Richmond Public School System. Linda was baptized and received her spiritual guidance at Grayland Baptist Church. After 30 years of dedicated service, Linda retired from Phillip Morris. Linda will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and special friend to many. She adored her grandchildren; they were part of the joy in her life. She was the backbone, the strength, and the light of her family and the neighborhood children who knew her and called her grandmother. Linda “Lee” loved life and gave love to everyone around her. Her door was always open, her warm home was a delight to all children that entered. She never turned anyone away. Our Linda was a true reflection of God’s love! Miss Fly, Miss Chancellor will be greatly missed and we will never allow the light to flicker and continue to carry her torch to eternity. She enjoyed shopping, cooking and decorating was her passion. Whenever the family would gather, she would talk, laugh, eat, hold babies and always shared her stories and hugs. She fought a good fight and now she has finished her course. She kept the faith, hence forth. There is laid up for her a crown of righteousness. She leaves to cherish and carry on her legacy two devoted and caring daughters, Martrise Murray and Latise Murray; five beautiful grandchildren, Jermaine Murray (Markea Cordell), Durond Murray (Anika), Steven Murray (Denean), Brionna Murray, Anasha Dickerson; seven great-grandchildren, Aniyah, Steven Jr., Iyohnna, Avion, Aubrie, Raeqwon and Jermiah; two sisters, June Roane and Marian S. Saunders (Stewart); several devoted friends, Charletia Johnson, Gwen Watts, Hilda Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The Fallen Limb A limb has fallen from the family tree. We keep hearing a voice that says, grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls I miss you all dearly until the day comes we are together again. “Our Grandmother” Linda was a young sixty-four year old woman who fought bravely for as long as she could. Unfortunately, she ultimately lost like too many other people worldwide. However, we are here to commemorate her memory. Some of us may be sad at her passing, but she is now in a better place devoid of the suffering she had endured. Our grandmother, Linda was an outstanding example of a very giving human being whom always managed to somehow put others beyond herself and her needs. She cared deeply for her friends, family, and all of her loved ones to a great extent. She loved talking and being with her family and friends. This only serves to further prove she is a great individual whom only deserves the utmost respect and admiration from all of her friends, family, and peers regardless of her location. Grandmother will be missed by all, however don’t fret. She will always be with us deep in the recesses of our mind and in our hearts until we too die and meet her in the afterlife. We personally, want to thank each and every one of you who are here today, attending her Celebration of Life Service. While she may no longer be with us physically, just remember that she will always be with us in both spirit and memory.
