Lillie Mae Thomas

LILLIE MAE THOMAS was born on June 17, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Dodgie and Alma Sturdivant . Lille Mae, also known as “Nooky,” “Lil” and “Nana,” was called home peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024 after a lengthy illness. She graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. She also attended The Cortez Business School and The Joseph A. Sellinger School of Business Management. She received the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at an early age at The Nazarene Baptist Church. Lillie married her first husband Harold Thornton who preceded her death, and from this union they shared three children. Lillie then married her second husband Johnny Thomas, who also preceded her in death. Lillie Mae’s desire to help people led her to pursue a career in nursing. After working for Church Home Hospital, she started her own Assisted Living Home; her patients became her family. Keeping her family together as the Matriarch, she took pleasure in preparing large meals over the holidays. She always threw a huge celebration in her yard with a live jazz band on her birthday, which was her favorite day of the year. What a time we had. A time was had by all. Lil knew how to throw a good party! She was classy and jazzy at the same time always sporting her blinged-out headgear while shopping at her favorite store “Walmark” as she would say. Lil had a passion for elephants and had over 150 in her collection. If you needed help, you could always count on her to be there with a helping hand. Now you may have gotten fussed or even cussed out, but that was because she loved you. Lil never failed us. She will forever be in our hearts. She truly will be missed. We Love You Lil! She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Michelle Dickens (Octavis Dickens), Crystal Thornton, Tarshi Harris (Steven Harris); four siblings, Adeline Sturdivant, Catherine Green, Dodgie and (Edward Sturdivant preceded her in death); nine grandkids, Michael Dickens, (Tikeya Johnson preceded her in death), Eric Harris (Melanie Harris), Arthur Tisdale, Shaunte’ Harris, Shante’ Harris, Gregory Nealy, Bradley Bush, Nija Colyns and Charly (Grandpup); fourteen great-grandkids, one great-great-grandson, one living aunt, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and cousins, including her favorite cousin Mae Lawson.
