Lacy A. Foster

LACY ADELLE FOSTER, daughter of the late Samuel and Dolly Taylor, was born on May 28, 1915 in the small town of Burkeville located in Nottaway County, Virginia. Lacy Adelle Foster was the seventh child of thirteen children who preceded her. She is the last of the siblings to go home. Lacy departed this life peacefully on March 7, 2022 at 11:04 a.m. at West Gate Nursing Home. Lacy received her education in Burkeville, Virginia. She was baptized at Mount Zion Church in Burkeville, Nottaway County as a young child. Lacy gave birth to two sons Collis who preceded her in death and Emmitt. Shortly after arriving to Baltimore, Lacy Adelle Taylor met and married William Foster, who preceded her in death. They were married for over 30 years. Lacy joined the Community Baptist Church in Jessup, Maryland under the pastorate of the late Reverend Robert T. Hurt in 1967. She loved God first, her Pastor and Church. She was an active member until her age prevented her from attending. However, Lacy remained in contact with several of her church friends, and they often called to see how she was doing. Lacy worked as a seamstress for a while in Baltimore City. Later, Lacy started working for Hamburgers Department Store downtown until she retired in 1985. She loved her job and was seldom absent from work. She enjoyed taking family pictures of her grandchildren in her backyard, where she also loved planting flowers, and when the family went to Burkeville, Virginia for family reunions. She also took plenty of pictures there. She loved working on her puzzles and reading her bible, but Lacy loved talking on the phone everyday with her sister and brother Corine and Buck. One thing about Lacy Adelle Foster, she was very particular of how she dressed and carried herself. Lacy truly loved her home in the 1600 block of Fulton Avenue and could even tell you up until her death when she brought her home in 1945 and where she resided until July 2019. While at West Gate she would ask how her house was doing. Her health was good. She never had to take any prescribed medication, not for blood pressure or any other medical ailment. The family thanks God for allowing Lacy to be with us until the age of 106.
