John Wallace Jordan,, Jr

On April 13, 2016, John Wallace Jordan, Jr., gracefully went home to rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia H. and John W. Jordan, Sr. John accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He was a member of the Saint Mark Baptist Church in Maidens, Virginia, which was founded by his great-great-grandfather, Rev. William H. Hicks. He also attended the services of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Goochland, as well as Trinity Baptist Church and First United Presbyterian Church in Richmond, VA. John attended Goochland County schools and upon graduation, enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country in England and Germany during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged after four years of service. John then received an Associate Degree from Chicago Mechanical and Engineering Institute. He joined in marriage to Doris B. Jordan, his wife of over 50 years and they were blessed with two children from this union. He then went on to establish Jordan Hauling & Excavating, which in recent years became known as Ace Excavating and Hauling. He oversaw the daily operation of his privately owned business for over 40 years in the Greater Richmond Area. Through his business, he was an honored member of the Metropolitan Business League. His hobbies included capturing family memories with photography. This earned him the nickname “Uncle Snapshot” by his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed road trips, state fairs and antique car shows. John was well loved by everyone and always went out of his way to help others. He has touched many people and the memory of his smile will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Those left to rejoice in his memory are a caring wife, Doris Jordan; two daughters, Dawn Jordan and Deiree Jordan-Dabney (Andre); granddaughters, Lauren Spindle and LaAnn Boston; sisters, Janette Harris (Floyd) and Monica Jordan; sister-in-law, Gladys Jordan; nieces, Patricia Jordan (Daryl), LaTasha Kenney, Carolyn Freeman, Setenna Barnes, Essandra Collins and Kenisha Turner; nephews, Theodore Jordan, Wayne Brower and Tracey Brower; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends. I have found a place where I can be free, I have found a whole new beginning just for me.
