Jessie L. Moseley

JESSIE LEE MOSELEY was born on October 26, 1931 in Durham, North Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late Roseann Gillespie and Vander Marshall. For much of her childhood, Jessie was raised by her maternal grandmother, Gracie Todd, who preceded her in death. On Tuesday, August 14, 2012, God called Jessie home victoriously. As a youth, Jessie accepted Christ as her Savior. In her adult years, she joined Southern Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland where she became a member of the Vocal Choir and an active participant of the Noon-Day Prayer Service and Bible Study. Jessie was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She earned her Associate’s of Arts Degree from the Community College of Baltimore in June of 1988. While seeking her degree, Jessie was employed as a Human Service Worker with the Urban Services Agency and a dedicated member of AFSCME, a local Baltimore City Union where she served as Treasurer of the organization. Jessie was able to fulfill her passion for helping others by working for Urban Services in Baltimore City. At Urban Services, she was able to assist families in need. Jessie genuinely cared about those in her life regardless of their kinship. Jessie or Ms. Jessie, as she was affectionately known by most people, was a devoted mother, grandmother, niece, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She was often known for her stern and sassy demeanor. Jessie loved to walk, read and attend social events and gatherings. She will truly be missed by everyone who knew her. Jessie leaves her family, not mourning, but rejoicing in knowing that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Edward Francis Moseley, Jr.; daughter, Jacqueline Williams; granddaughters, Chiffon Renee Moseley, Tamara Muriel Bruce, Crystal Lee Brown and Christina Lee Williams; sonin- law, Leroy Eugene Williams; great-grandchildren, Imani Jessie Brown and Jordan Nasir Brown; niece, Diane White; devoted aunt, Osabelle Hawkins; godchild, Peggy Johnson; a very special friend, Peggy Peacock; and a host of other relatives and friends. “MOTHER” There’s a little word called “Mother” with a rhythm all its own, That seems to sway the heart strings in the cradle of its tone; God fashioned it of tenderness and understanding true, And then He called it “Mother” For He named it after You.
