Jeanette A. Williams

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest; lay down O weary one, lay down your head upon my breast.” Our beloved “Net” entered into eternal rest Monday, June 12, 2017 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake, Pasadena Maryland. JEANETTE ANNIE WELLS WILLIAMS, was born on Tuesday, January 16, 1920 in Harmans, Maryland to the late William and Nettie Wells. She was the fifth of twelve children born to that union. Jeanette received her early education in the Anne Arundel County Public School System. She married the love of her life, Purnell Solomon Williams on June 24, 1939. they were married for fifty (50) years and from this union were blessed with two children, the late Punell Jr. and Larry affectionately known as “Fluggie and Butchie”. Jeanette accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at the age of 19 and there started a journey that would shape her life and the lives of her family for generations to come. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy; she could be heard daily crying out to God n prayer for their safety, salvation and faith. Jeanette was known for her ability to give a word of wisdom in season, with a strong and loving arm. She was indeed the Proverbs 31 “Virtuous Women”. Strength and Honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in times to come. She opened her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue was the law of kindness. Her children arise up and called her blessed. Many daughters have done virtuously, but you excellest them all”. Jeanette was a life-long member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a fashion and beauty enthusiast who enjoyed the latest styles and trends. As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Many of whom especially remember her chocolate cakes. During her illness she spent her final months in the loving care of her son, Larry and her grandchildren. She was frequently visited by family and friends. Jeanette was preceded in transition by her husband, Purnell Williams, Sr.; her son, Purnell Williams Jr., (Paulette); her sisters Louise Wells; Helen Wells, Ada Milburn, Dorothy Phillips, Catherine Queen (Leon) and her brothers; Lawrence Wells (Enda), Raymond Wells (Hilda), Roger Wells, Eugene Wells and Calvin Wells. Jeanette leaves to cherish her memory: five generations, devoted son, Larry Williams (Beltina), seven grandchildren, Purnell Williams, III (robin), Derrick Williams (Shonda), Charmane Williams, LaRay Williams, LaMeko Williams, Donte Williams and Patrese Williams, twelve great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ester Wells; god daughter, Janet Bacon; devoted friends, Francis Graham and Vivian Hall; and a host of other family and friends who love her dearly. Jeanette is finally with Jesus, and in her own words she would say, “I made heaven my home!”
