Helen A. Day- Redmond

I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT, I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE, AND I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH. THY IS DONE. Helen A. Day-Redmond was born on August 9, 1048 to Alice R. Day and the late Vincent J. Day, Sr. Helen was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1966. Helen was christened at St. Peter Claver Roman Catholic Church as an infant. During her growing up years along with her family, Helen attended St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church and later when the family moved to the Edmondson Village community, she along with her family joined the St. Bernadine Catholic Church. Helen was joined in matrimony to Larry D. Redmond Sr., on April 14, 1965 and from this union they were blessed with two sons. Helen was so devoted to her husband that she named her sons Larry Dorrell Redmond Jr. and Dorrell Larry Redmond. Her boys were the absolute center of her life. As a child growing up, Helen enjoyed teasing and antagonizing her sisters and younger brother by hiding their toys, underwear , and anything that was near and dear to them. She would often play practical jokes on them. But you can be assured that she would never let the outside kids bother them. She was very protective of her siblings and would tackle the largest bear out there. You had better run if you saw her coming and that is for sure. Helen loved her boys to the fullest but she was very firm with them. She did not believe in sparing the rod and spoiling the child. The neighborhood kids knew her and respected her because she didn't spare them either. If they were caught doing wrong and would see Ms. Helen coming they would run as fast as they could. Helen leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Alice R. Day; sons, Larry and Dorrell Redmond (who preceded her in death); sisters, Dorothea, Betty, Gloria and Alice; two sisters preceded her in death, Catherine and Geraldine; two brothers preceded her in death, Vincent and Melvin; daughter-in-law, Katherine; sister-in-law, Oveda; seven grandchildren, Larry, Brandon, Brittany, Dorrell, Donnell, Myrell and Kiate; three step-children, Troy, Marcus and Brian; one great-grandbaby; former husband, Larry; uncle and aunt Albert and Peggy Allen; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.
