Gloria Ann Cormier

Gloria Ann Cormier was born to the late Isaac Allen and Emily V. Allen on November 1, 1961 in Richmond, Virginia. Gloria was educated in Hanover County public schools. Gloria accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at The Greater Nazarene Baptist Church. Gloria was smart, intelligent, attractive, compassionate, funny, devoted, spiritual and very strong in her ability love and enjoy her life. She didn’t like just sitting around doing nothing, she liked being active, she loved people and would help anyone who needed assistance, a kind word, a laugh, a smile, she was genuine in heart and spirit. Gloria loved children and children loved her, she was a devoted grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister and friend. She had a passion for being the advocate for people, not just pointed out the injustices but took an active role in doing something about it. Most of all she was a devoted, sweet, kind wife in which I had the honor of being with her for 25 years, we had just celebrated our 25th Anniversary. God answered my prayers when he lead me to her. I only had her on loan, she was the Lords’ child and her wanted her back. There is not going to be a day that we will not think of her and what she meant to them, to me, to her family and friends. My lovely lady will be truly missed and a large hole exist in our hearts for the love of Gloria (My Princess). Gloria followed her father’s footsteps by serving in the military. She joined the U. S. Army and proceeded to serve in the Virginia National Guard after being Honorably discharged. She retired from the Virginia National Guard after 20 years service and served with distinction and honor to our country and state. She gave dedicated service for over 24 years and I was extremely proud of her and I know her parents, siblings, family and friends were also. For a petite woman she left an extremely large footprint of her life. She loved God with all of her being. Gloria was a devoted servant and I’m very sure God our Father will say to her, “My daughter well done you were a truly faithful servant, enter your rest”. Gloria was also a state employee for over 34 years, her service was with the Virginia Parole Board. They were a second family to her and I know that their hearts are broken, however they also know that she’s in a better place and years of memories will carry them through each and everyday. She was preceded in death by her daughter Gabrielle Dionne Jenee Cormier, father Isaac Allen Sr.; brother, Isaac J. Allen Jr.; and her son, Jabari Cormier. She leaves to cherish her legacy, love and memories to her husband, Horace Cormier Jr.; daughter, Janaia Hamel (Steve); sons, Maurice Cormier and Jason Cormier; mother, Emily V. Allen, sister, Maxine Allen; brother and sister-in-law, William and Rugena Allen; sister-in-law, Shelia Anderson (Kenny); brothers-in-law, Conwell Cormier and Jerome Cormier, eight nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, three aunts, two uncles, a host of family members and caring friends.
