Gina Marlene Spot

GINA MARLENE GRAHAM-SPOT was born on September 5, 1958, in the Republic of Panama to the late Joyce Bredwood Collins and the late Stanford Graham. She departed this life suddenly on June 8, 2021, in the care of the Bethesda Assisted Living Facility. Gina was educated in the Republic of Panama private school, Instituto Americano (IPA). In 1981, Gina moved to the United States to continue her education at Anne Arundel Community College where she obtained an Associate Degree in Business Management. Gina was employed at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Medical Records Clerk. She used her bilingual skills to obtain a position with the Department of Justice as a Linguist Supervisor for 15 years. In her tenure, at the Department of Justice, she was able to travel to other states and receive additional education. Gina accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at the New Mount Zion Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD under the leadership of Reverend Joseph L. Davis Sr. During her membership, at New Mount Zion she sang on the choir and participated in several ministries. After Reverend Davis Sr. served under New Mount Zion Baptist Church, God called him to pastor New Christian Fellowship Baptist Church where she followed him and served as the Church Administrator and a member of the Usher Board. Gina’s employment and residency did not allow flexibility in attending services in the city. Gina wanted to continue serving God so she joined St. John Baptist Church in 2014, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Robert A. F. Turner, Sr. Pastor. Gina served on the Usher Board and Greeter Ministry until her health prohibited her from serving. In 1987, Gina met the love of her life, James Spot. They fell deeply in love and blended their family together. On September 26, 1992, Gina and James were married and became one. Gina, a brilliant light that could not be contained, that, “is our Gina”. Warm as a lovely sunny day. She could be heard before seen, as she showered everyone with her effervescent greeting and brilliant smile! She lit up the room and drew you in through infectious enthusiasm and fun-loving nature. Her antics made us laugh, and her mere presence joyous. If you weren’t already under her spell, then it wouldn’t be long. We loved her colorful personality that matched her bling-bling fashionista style! Gina gave much love to family and friends. She was a passionate, loving, and dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother (ITA.) Always loyal and fiercely protective of those close to her, she was a kind soul but no pushover. Innately driven, she let nothing get in her way of receiving or giving her very best. She was one in a million. Gina enjoined traveling, shopping for her bling blings and going out to dinner. She enjoined dancing and entertaining with family and friends. One of Gina’s BIGGEST highlights of her life was, she celebrated her 50th birthday in her Country, (Panama) where she invited family and friends from all over the world to attend. What a joyous occasion to remember! The BLING BLING was there and everywhere. Though Gina is no longer with us physically, her beautiful spirit will always be in our hearts. Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing us with the time we had with her. We love and miss you Gina. Your light will shine forever. She was preceded in death by her parents Joyce Bredwood Collins and Stanford Graham and two sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted husband, Junious James Spot; her son, Jamal Graham Sr., (Jessica), Baltimore, MD; daughter, Tawanda Moore, (Larry Mclean), North Carolina; one brother, Theodore Gilliard; one sister, Christina Graham; ten other siblings, all from Panama; three sisters-in-law, Inges Reynolds, Edith Cooks and Gloria Spot and one brother-in-law, Willie Spot, all from New Orleans, LA; two aunts, Icilda Bereton and Gloria Miller, both from Panama; two grandsons, Jamal Graham Jr., Jackson Graham; three granddaughters, Angela Moore, Alanisse Moore, Aryana Moore; six god-daughters, Kenysha, Candice, Ladijah, Jahaira, Kennedy, and Jamilah; three godsons, Carlos Bratton, Wayne Bryant Jr., Chris Donaldson Sr; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and beloved friends. She also leaves a special cousin, Susana Miller and six special friends, Fem Bratton, Patricia Davis, Sandra Bryant, Mary Payton, Yvonne Roch and Maria Peña.
