Eula Jane Leggett

EULA JANE LEGGETT, beloved daughter of the late Eula Jane Hounsby Taylor and John Matthew Taylor Sr., was born on December 22, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland. Serenely embracing eternal rest at Sinai Hospital Hospice on July 3, 2023, she leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories. Eula was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. Not long after graduating from high school, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she worked at The Children’s Hospital as a nursing assistant. Following her time in Boston, Eula’s heart guided her back to Baltimore, Maryland. There, she pursued a career in private duty nursing, showcasing her skills and dedication to caring for others. Her unwavering commitment to her profession and the well-being of her patients left an indelible mark until her body was ultimately claimed by a stroke, marking the end of her dedicated service. She derived immense joy from whipping up gourmet delicacies for her family and friends, exploring new destinations, indulging in retail therapy, and immersing herself in the enchanting world of theater, both in Baltimore and New York. She also enjoyed eating crabs. It was during this time that fate united her with Leroy Leggett, who became the love of her life. Their union blossomed into a joyous marriage that spanned 29 blissful years. However, their path together was touched by sorrow when Leroy’s life’s journey came to an end. Eula has been a dedicated member of Sharon Baptist Church for over seventy years, demonstrating her love for God, people, and loyalty to her church family. Eula was preceded in death by one sister Ertie McCoy, and two brothers Stanley Taylor and John Taylor. She leaves to mourn: two daughters, Elaine Rice and Donna Hall; two sons, Tyrone Rice Sr. and John Hall Jr.; daughterin- law, Angela; son-in-law, Sam; seven grandchildren, Shannise, Shonnise, Qiara, Kennedi, Tyrone, John and Joshua; five great-grandchildren, Shantrice, Jazzmine, Nerriah, Robert and Zion; two great-great-grandchildren, Raegan and Daquan; four nieces, Sharon, Carmen, Eula and Edita; one nephew, Carlos; and a host of other relatives and friends. Eula Jane Leggett’s departure is mourned deeply by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever remain etched in our hearts as we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the love and joy she brought to our lives.
