Douglas Patrick Pace

“Beyond the gate our loved one finds happiness and rest. And there is confidence in the thought, that a loving God knows best.” Our beloved Douglas Patrick Pace, departed this life on January 24, 2017. He was born to the late James E. and Annie M. Pace on May 16, 1937 in Green County, North Carolina. Douglas accepted Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Richmond Public School system, graduating from Maggie L. Walker High School. He furthered his education at Virginia Union University for two years. He was drafted into the United States Army for two years serving his country proudly and received an honorable discharge. In 1958, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Jean D. White and from their union, they were blessed with a daughter, Kawana. He was employed with Reynolds Metal Company, as a machine operator, and retired after 30 years. He later was employed by the Henrico County Public School system for over fifteen years as a dedicated employee. Douglas also known as “Doug” was a kind, considerate and friendly man. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He also enjoyed watching sports and westerns, listening to jazz and traveling. Douglas was a gentle and loving husband, a wonderful father, and a marvelous grandfather. Douglas had a full and blessed life and he was a friend to all that knew him. The family cherishes all the years of love that he shared with us. He would never say goodbye, but see you later. He will be missed, but never forgotten. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Jean White Pace; caring daughter, Kawana Pace-Harding; adored granddaughter, Kiara Harding Gray; two sisters, Aquincie Alma P. Brunson and Annie P. Harris; a devoted son-in law, Gerald Harding and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. “Golden Heart” God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not meant to be So he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come with me” With tearful eyes we watched you, as we saw you pass away. Although we loved you deeply, we could not make you stay. Your golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
