Delores Ann Gross

Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” DELORES GROSS, born Delores Ann Knight, entered into this world on April 11, 1946 to the late Leah and Luke Knight in Oak City, North Carolina. She relocated to Baltimore, Maryland as a spunky teenager in the early 1960’s. Delores received her education from West Martin High in Oak City, North Carolina. She later went on to pursue a long career using that same spunky personality working as a dispatcher for the Housing Authority of Baltimore City. Even after retirement, Delores couldn’t let go of her passion for helping others. She continued her second career working security for housing. Those who knew Delores took a liking to her jazzy “it is what it is” personality and unique style. It was not uncommon to see Delores in one of her favorite hats or caps or sporting a jazzy hairstyle. She was never afraid to have a good time. From line dancing, to backyard cookouts, or spending time with her family and friends, Delores was the life of the party. Her infectious laugh and love for people will be greatly missed. She was a great listener who exhibited such a calm demeanor. If you needed a shoulder to cry on or a place to stay, Delores would never turn you away. She was a devoted, mother, grandmother, and loyal friend. Delores was a true believer in Christ until the very end. She served many roles as a devoted member of the St. Paul Community Baptist Church where she shared her love for Christ amongst the members of her church community. Delores lived a beautiful life and like the flowers that she adored, she took her place in the garden of heaven on July 20, 2023. Delores leaves to cherish in memory: her husband, Louis Gross; a devoted longtime friend, Raymond Daniels; five sisters-in-law, Ellen, Hattie, Cynthia, Dorothy and Lucille; one brother-in-law, Michael; one daughter, Falayon “Flaky”; two sons, Derrick and Mark; seven grandchildren, Destynee, Darricka, Louis, Hope, Towanda, Kirk and Darrick; three great- grandchildren, Wynter, Timothy and Willow.
