Carlton Wilbert Tyler

Our beloved Carlton W. Tyler, 60, was born to James C. Tyler and the Irene Peticolas on October 13, 1951 in Charles City, Virginia. He was placed in God’s hands on January 15, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Peticolas; step-father, Harold Peticolas and brother, James F. Tyler. He was educated in Charles City County Schools. Following his high school graduation, he furthered his education and graduated from Smithdeal-Massey Business College. Carlton was later drafted in the United States Army, where he served his country proudly. He received an honorable discharge from the military and returned to Charles City. Carlton accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Little Elam Baptist Church. He was an active member serving the Lord as he was told until he moved to Richmond, Virginia and became a member at First Union Baptist Church. He was employed at DuPont for over 30 years as a Kevlar Pulp Associate, where he was a dedicated employee, until his health began to fail. Carlton lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to different restaurants to eat. He was caring, honest and devoted to his family, job, friends and the community. Carlton was adored and dearly loved by his grandchildren. One of his favorite past times was photography and reading books written by African American authors. He leaves to cherish his memory and legacy, daughter, Chenia Sims (Brian); son, Nicholas Tyler (Nichole); 5 grandchildren, Destini, Dequan, Niyahni, Brock and Johari; father, James C. Tyler (Almeda); 3 sisters, Tanya Johnson (Rodney), Monica Allen and Kathy Washington; 2 brothers, Craig Tyler (Tanisha) and Carl Minor; devoted cousin, Anna Bradby; devoted friends, Sylvia Harris-Warthal and Saundra Quiero; devoted coworkers, Macy, Lynette, and Geneva and a host of other relatives and friends. To My Family and Friends I wish I could have told all of you of my leaving, but I can see clearer now, so please stop your grieving. I can’t explain what happened on that day the Lord called, so I obeyed. He heard all of my cries and he saw my tears With opened arms, He came and drew me near. Don’t worry and don’t be sad. You are the best family and friends I could ever of had. Carlton
