Britten Williams

Suddenly on 9/30/15 Britten Williams went home to be with the Lord. Britten A. Williams, affectionately known as “Britt” was born and raised in Norfolk County, VA in the community of Compastella. He was born on Sept. 1, 1940 to the late Henry James Williams and Jesse Mabel Williams. Britten completed high school education in 1958, at Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, VA. He went on to pursue an Apprenticeship as a Brick Layer and a Cement Finisher. Although he was closely raised with his siblings, and immediate relatives in Norfolk; in 1967 he moved to Baltimore, MD to further his career as he worked on a major contract assignment with Central Atlantic Contractors. Britt decided at that time to make Baltimore his home. Britt remained employed at Central Atlantic Contractors until he retired in 1994. Britt made numerous friends in Baltimore. He raised six step daughters from grade school to college and graduate school. They are Stephanie (deceased), Brenda, Cheryl, Iris, Chandra, and Rhonda all of Baltimore, MD. He has a son, Marcus who is in Saudi Arabia at this time. Britt met Ms. Juanita Alexander who was a Registered Nurse and a Social Worker, from the University of Maryland (UMB). On July of 1997 Britt and Juanita were married. This gave Britt two step sons, Carl and Marcus (deceased) whom he raised and showered with love and much adoration until his departure to his heavenly home. Britt was creative in making a fantastic meal from leftovers he found in the refrigerator. Britt enjoyed social gatherings with family and friends – he was always the life of the party. He was a great dancer and was often referred to as “Fred Astaire”. He was the most loving, caring providing father figure you could ever find. He leaves to mourn his loving devoted wife, Juanita, his son Marcus (Lora), his step son Carl (LaShel), his siblings Raymond Smith (Viola), Lenora Bell (Richard), Bernard Smith and Renita Jordan (Wailon) of Norfolk, VA. His step daughters Brenda Baskin (David, Sr.), Cheryl, Iris, Chandra Teel (Kevin, deceased), and Rhonda Smith. He also takes with him fond memories and the unconditional love of many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
