Belinda Artis Jones

Melinda “Lynjoyce” Artis Jones returned to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 28, 2015 after a 9 year battle with breast cancer. Her devotion to her family and belief in God supported her during her struggle, but alternately gave her piece Lynjoyce was born on March 11, 1959 in Richmond Virginia to the late Luby and Dorothy Artis. She was preceded in death by her siblings Paulette, Cindy and Kenny Artis. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted friend Clarence “Tiny”Covington, her siblings Pauline (Tony) and Jerome Artis, her children Calvin and Marquise Artis, Brian Artis and inherited son Darrien Underwood; as well as her grandchildren Calvin Jr., Zavier and Zykee Artis, nieces Monica,Demeka and Dee Dee, nephews Clarence Jr.; dark Darryl, Twan (preceded), Michael and Deshawn. She also leaves a host of close friends to cherish her memory many of whom are here today. Lynjoyce attended Richmond Public Schools and had been employed at SunTrust for over 20 years. She was a huge football fan and let her tell it Dallas Cowboy’s is the best team. In her spare time, she loved listening to music, cooking, dancing, playing cards and watching her two favorite shows (Family Feud and Judge Judy) but being in the presence of her family was her favorite. Although she was feisty and a bit stubborn at times she was a lovable and caring woman who would go out of her way to do anything for anybody. She was a very independent and her strong will to live impacted, encouraged and motivated so many people. Even doing her final days, she battle her illness to the very end and never gave up or gave in. She will be dearly missed in her loved ones who celebrate the fact she is no longer in pain but she is in peace with her creator. I know that you miss me, don’t be sad & don’t cry. God called the home. He knew that was best so don’t ask why. I’ve transitioned to a better place, but left you with a lifetime of memories that will never be erased. I am now at peace and that’s how I want you to be. During those dark hours and sad moments, I know that God will be there to comfort you as He gives you thoughts of me. I hope that I served you all well as a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, auntie and a friend. So long for now until we meet again.
