Barbara Ann Redfearn

On August 2, 2025, our beloved BARBARA ANN REDFEARN peacefully went home to be with the Lord. Born on April 21, 1948, in Baltimore City, Maryland, Barbara was the cherished daughter of Wilson and Thelma Redfearn. She was the second oldest of nine, and with her passing, the final earthly chapter of their generation closed — though now, she is joyfully reunited with her brothers and sisters in heaven. Barbara’s life was one of wisdom, faith, strength, and service. She graduated from Baltimore City Public School System and went to college. After completing college, she began serving her community through her career in government, always striving for excellence and carrying herself with dignity and intelligence. Her gift for words and her command of grammar made her not only respected but deeply admired. Barbara spoke with power, confidence, and truth — a voice that could stop people in their tracks and even catch the attention of a bird in flight. Her faith was her anchor. From the time she gave her heart to the Lord in her 20s, Barbara carried her Bible faithfully and reminded younger generations to stay prayed up, to honor God with their bodies, and to never let go of their faith. She was truly a God-fearing woman whose love for Christ was the light of her life. Barbara moved to Washington, DC where she met the love of her life, Chick Alexander. Out of this union came a baby boy, Tracy Damon Alexander. In 1985, Barbara started an outreach center for women and children in Sandtown. In the 2000’s, she had an outreach community center located in Baltimore on Garrison Boulevard, WACCON. Family was Barbara’s heart. As the matriarch, she reminded everyone to stay close, to remember where they came from, and to always stick together. Her love didn’t stop at family — every summer, she poured into the community by hosting events for children at Liberty Elementary, giving them joy, encouragement, and memories that will last a lifetime. Though she was strong, firm, and commanding, Barbara also lived with joy. She enjoyed trivia games, especially Jeopardy, and she knew the power of prayer, the importance of education, and the beauty of family. Her legacy is one of love, wisdom, and faith — values she instilled in her son, Tracey Alexander. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Thelma Redfearn; sisters, Peggy Edmonds, Delphine Robinson, Amelia Rose and Nadine Randolph; brothers, Larry, Chuckey, De’Mitchell and Devor Redfearn; and nieces, Helena and Monique Matthews. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Tracy Alexander; nieces, Eugenia Watkins, Shana R. Hall, Keisha Redfearn, Devora Hall, Maya Shird and Shayla Redfearn; nephews, Matthew Edmonds and Trevor Rose; a host of great-nieces and -nephews; special cousin, Tiffany McCall; devoted friends, Joann and Ernest Cowan; extended family, and countless lives touched by her presence. Barbara Ann Redfearn lived a life that mattered — a life rooted in God, in family, and in community. Though she will be deeply missed, her voice, her strength, and her spirit will continue to live on through all who loved her.
