Barbara Ann Glover

Barbara Ann Glover departed this life suddenly on June 16, 2016. She was born in Henderson, NC on February 1, 1950 to Thurston E. Daye and the late Ethel Mae Kearney. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Julia F. Jones. Barbara was educated in Henderson public schools where she was affectionately known as "Bee". Bee was a member of the Library Club which consisted of students who were willing to give up their free time to help others. She was also on the girls' basketball team where her loyalty to her teammates was never forgotten. Barbara attended Henderson Institute graduating in the class of 1968. She will always be remembered for her ability to share love and genuine kindness with everyone. In 1973, Barbara married Joseph Glover and to this union one daughter, Toinette Glover-Claiborne was born. Barbara was eventually blessed with "a village" that played a huge role in helping to shape Toinette's life. Barbara was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church (formerly First Baptist Church) in Henderson, NC. While living in Richmond, she enjoyed attending services at Trinity Baptist Church. Barbara spent most of her career in finance working for Bank of America for many years until her retirement. After retiring, Barbara volunteered for AARP helping out at the Williamsburg Community Center. Barbara loved to shop and eat-out all over town. But her favorite activity was spending time with her darling grand daughter Shayla. They would talk on the phone for hours or just lay around together watching TV. She was all about spending time with the family she loved so dearly. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted daughter, Toinette Claiborne (Vernon) and side-kick, her precious grand-daughter, Shayla Worden; her father, Thurston E. Daye (Ruby) brothers Alvin Foster (Deborah), James Foster and Thurston G. Daye (Carol); uncle, Calvin Kearney (Pat); aunts Annie Kearney and Martha Kearney; and a host of other relatives and friends including devoted Delores Johnson, Laverne Grant, Tonya Browne, Deborah Glover, Janice Harris, Betty Simms and Bennie Keyes.
