Antionette Harrison Manson

ANTIONETTE CASTIELLE HARRISON MANSON is the second of five children born from the union of Martin Luther Harrison and Henrietta Ellis Harrison. Antionette entered this world on May 11, 1927 in Brunswick County, Virginia and departed from this world, for eternal rest with her Lord and Savior, on Friday June 29, 2012 in Baltimore, Maryland. Antionette was a member of the 1947 Graduating Class of Saint Paul's College, Lawrenceville, Virginia, where she and her husband, Chauncey D. Manson, Jr. were college sweethearts. From their union, a son, Chauncey D. Manson, III and a daughter, Amaya Ian Manson were born. She continued her education at Towson State Teacher's College in Towson, Maryland. She retired from the Baltimore City Public School System as an elementary school teacher, with twenty-nine years of outstanding service, serving on numerous educational work groups. As an avid educator, she believed that every child is entitled to the best education available, and that sentiment was the driving force that she tried to instill in every student she taught. She continued to remain in contact with her education colleagues and former students. God was the cornerstone throughout her life. She believed that God never promised us a rose garden, but He promised never to leave us. Antionette's acceptance of God as her Savior was the basis for her long service to the Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Antionette was also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and the Baltimore Chapter of the Saint Paul's College Alumni Association, always believing that service to others was service to her Lord. Antionette believed in telling you what you needed to hear to succeed. Her love for her family was demonstrated by spearheading the Harrison Family Reunion. She did not accept excuses for not completing a job, and did not believe in self-pity. She loved to tell life stories from her past and colorful details about the people she met throughout her life. She was an avid reader, a lover of Pinochle, Scrabble and Anagrams and “Find-A-Word” word games. She was quite spirited and opinionated. She loved the Lord and truly valued her family, her friends and her education. Antionette is survived by her husband of sixty-three loving years, Chauncey D. Manson, Jr.; son, Chauncey Manson, III; daughter, Amaya Manson; four grandchildren, Brandon Bracey, Jeremy Manson, Chauncey Manson, IV and Owyn Manson; two sisters, Evelyn Bracey (Baltimore, Maryland) and Iva Eaton (New Jersey); brother, Kenneth Harrison (Virginia); nieces, Melrae Scherer, and Laverne Harrison; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Robert Stanton; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Manson; many more nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
