Annie B. McKee

Mrs. Annie B. Mckee was born on January 30, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Jack snd Myrtle Williams. Annie was the youngest of six siblings who all preceded her in death. She married the late Lee Mckee on May 6, 1960 who preceded her in death on October 8, 1987; from that union the joy of their lives Zina Mckee arrived. On Thursday, March 14, 2020, God gently took her hand and led her home. She was introduced to Christ at an early age and was a faithful; member of St. Pius Catholic Church. After marrying her husband lee, She then joined Perkins Square Baptist Church and sang on the Women's Choir. Annie had a love for children and family and it was not uncommon for her to have a house full of family and friends; and at one point started a daycare for her friend's grandchildren. Then in February, 1985m life changed for Annie when she became a grandmother to Donnell House, II and it was love at first sight. Donnell was her entire world and she became the absolute best grandmother EVER!! The bond between them was unbreakable. Anne would often say when her husband passed away in 1987, Donnell saved her life. Her quote was ... "You cannot grieve with a two-year-old, I had to focus on him." When she moved into Smallwood Summit in July, 2008 whenever he went to visit her, he would wrestle with her to make sure she was alert and stay ready for the unexpected. She in turn would always ask him to show her the lasted dance. Annie never met a stranger, to know her was to love her. Her sense of humor was unmatched. She had a nickname for everyone and quirky sayings that we entitled "Annie-isms'. It is not uncommon for Zina and Donnell to lead a story saying " As my mother would say or as my grandmother would say" ...If you know, you know. In December, 2017 Annie was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 87. She calmly explained to her daughter and grandson that God would take care oh her. She refused to be sad and embraced the diagnosis as only she could do with humor and her faith all balled into one. There is nothing like having a praying mother and grandmother. Her faith was her superpower! She read her Bible daily and prayed constantly; and although she was no longer Catholic, she still said her rosary and followed many of her Catholic teachings. She leaves to rejoice in her memory; her daughter Zina McKee, her grandson aka 'Partner-in-Crime' Donnell House, II, her great grand-daughter Zenzele House, her nephew Dean Anthony Smith, and a host of other relatives and friends
